  • Had a bit of a delayed "Wait, what?" reaction to Adore's supposed origin story. Didn't Kristian say on the boards Succubi don't work like how Ali described her spirit? So either she's just using the 'succubi' as an excuse for her powers, or she's more messed up then she's letting on.

  • not all succubi are created equal. some of them dont exist before theyre summones. sometimes they take on the attributes expected.

    Adore is not an avatar.

there is more to her story than meets the eye.

  • Ignoring the conflicts with religious doctrine (since it would probably just mean it came from a religion other than bible/Torah/Quran), I imagine an Angel of Sex would look like the ideal partner, or similar to it, of whoever they were providing their services to. Their default form probably isn't a form as human perception would understand it.

So kinda like an Asari from Mass Effect? Gotcha. :-p

so for some american males--she would show up with a TV tray with sandwich, beer and chips on it and the room would have a TV that played nonstop NFL games?

Not to slide they topic but did you catch the conversation in the bar I think it was in ME2 where the turian, salarian, and human are all describing an asari. And all of them are coming up with way off descriptions. Now there is a neat little fan theory.

She's a scout for an alien invasion force. Her job is to discover as much as she can about Earths mutant defenders and whatever she can about the current geopolitical situation.
To keep control of the TV she has an alien device which makes others not interested in arguing over control of the TV.

  • I assumed she was watching the news because it's one of the most bland things on TV, in order to help her keep her libido in check - the sort of thing that won't pull her hair trigger. Otherwise, if I read it correctly, she'd too easily find other ways to pass the time that might give her a certain reputation.

Seriously, thank you for your time and effort. It is appreciated.

  • The reason nobody cares for changing the channel is simple: everybody around is watching HER. "The TV? It's on? Huh. I hadn't even noticed..."

I haven't played Mass Effect, but the way you describe the Asari (is that how it's spelled?) remind me of the Vorlons...

Anyway... melding a couple old jokes... the ideal woman for some guys would not only include a TV playing sports, but also she would set up the best ever Quake server (or be one ), and after 4:00 AM would turn into a pizza .

  • She's not an avatar, which means she's either Imbued... or possibly hosting multiple souls? Or she's... becoming a succubus herself? Not hosting one, but literally slowly turning into one.

Option X: A succubus hijacked a male body to save itself.

Option Z: She has a power to absorb things and then whatever she absorbs is incorporated into her permanently, but she only has so much room. Her original male self (i'm not sure if it was actually stated she was a changeling, but it was implied by her presence at the meeting) got laid by a succubus and... ate it.

I thought the implication was that Adore has desires equal to or greater of her own compared to the aura she gives off. Her power cuts both ways. She's watching the news to keep from acting on those desires because it is boring to her. Like constantly taking a mental cold shower.

    Siblings and Savages:

She wasn’t telling the whole story, and Diamondback and Deimos were having a lot of practice shielding, as the lust the girl generated in other people didn’t hold a candle to what she actually felt and fought, and the two empaths had to spend a lot of effort trying to block the little addict’s emotions, but a lot still got through.

Adore is suppressing as much as she possibly can.

But it's so comfortable here, it just needs a few changes. The devisor menagerie of GSD cases can go in that corner, dead family members can mix with your people. The revenge plot gone wrong would look wonderful by the bay window.
Don't worry about the serial killer, he'll make himself comfortable until it's time to work. The social media disaster will get her computer set up as soon as she hacks into your WiFi. And the PTSD ward will have to be right in the centre for easy access.
Please ignore the soul stealer, he doesn't want your soul, he prefers younger ones for the best flavours.

And I think all the ideas about adore trying to dampen her own feelings works far better than aliens, even if not as entertaining.

  • We know she was possessed, and WOG says she's not an Avatar.

I'd say we don't know if she's still possessed or not, but irrespective of that I'd think Adore to have manifested due to the stress of possession and subsequently imprinted on the succubus.

Of course, this is JG we're talking about. So things are likely significantly weirder. Oh, and violent.

Seriously, thank you for your time and effort. It is appreciated.

  • Maybe we have it backwards. Maybe The succubus is the one in control, but it's her host's body, and she's required to respect his wishes as part of the possession or something? Maybe he opened himself up to save her life and got stuck like this for it?

  • My two cents for this topic:

    1) There is a VERY SPECIFIC reason that Adore is always watching the news, and no, none of you have guessed it accurately, yet.

    2) I can assure you that "losing his virginity" was the FARTHEST thing from Adore's mind at the time.

    That is all.

Well, what's she looking for? Or tracking? Or aggregating info to see what pattern?

    Newsworthy, obviously.

... Adore's transformation was likely an EmergencyTransformation or something, to.let him live, where not doing so would mean his death...

  • This is 2007. It's a very different news landscape from, say, 2016-17. Back then, there was actually a small percentage of the news that didn't seem to have been written by GOOs moonlighting as SNL script writers. On crack.

What if it's something very very positive, but extremely not gonna happen, that she's trying to see?

So far this is the closest. But you're still hitting a few miles away from the target area, son. Can you please TRY not to aim for the suburbs next time?

    Thanks JG

Alright folks, it's not in the ballpark, but it is in the same city. Now then... Either abandonment or positivity is what we're looking for, possibly both. JG didn't say which guess (with one being rather broad) was in the right couple of miles of the target. What are the bids/guesses?

Or maybe you are spreading misinformation, hmm?

Is it possible that Adore isn't so much watching the news, as she might be watching the person/people reporting it?

Seriously, thank you for your time and effort. It is appreciated.

  • Actually, her news watching reminds me a bit of the opening to Harry Potter #5, where he too is obsessively watching the news.

  • I was joking before, but after reading this latest batch of stories, I'm leaning toward somebody she cares about being a newscaster or reporter. Maybe she's worried about them, or maybe she's estranged and this is just the only way she gets to see them anymore.

But it could be all kinds of crazy stuff. She could be part of a conspiracy that sends coded messages through the news (or has been subconsciously conditioned by a cult to watch for a trigger phrase). She could have had very bad experiences related to not knowing enough about what was going on in the world and now has a compulsion to monitor world events. She could be Ty West's child. She could be planning an attack on the newsroom and needs to observe the people and layout as much as possible beforehand. She could be writing a story about newscasters and is trying to learn their speech patterns and mannerisms so she can write accurately. She might know that one of them is an alien, and she's waiting for them to slip up so that she can prove it. She might just be very upset and watching the news is comforting because it reminds her of sitting with her family in the evening, or a family member who was involved in the news, or something like that.

How do we reconcile these two statements? The first one is the troublesome one, because we're clearly going too far, and missing the obvious.

A non-TG boy, who would willingly allow a succubus to possess him...
    1) Attempting to get a known lesbian at school that he's been crushing on, like, forever?
    2) Epic Halloween costume fail?
    3) Worried about performing as he gets into puberty, and wanting to "understand women" first hand?
    4) Wanting to perv on the girl's locker room?

1 and 4 seem the most likely from JG's smug, mocking tone! But even then maybe I'm overthinking things. That aside, assuming that these options are at least...nominally valid, what would constantly watching the news, and not any other type of media, get her?

    a) Trying to track the succubus to get her to reverse it by finding a similar story, who will be taunting her, secretly.
    b) Hoping to see the succubus arrested for seducing a student when she posed as a teacher.
    c) Hoping to see the succubus arrested for prostitution.
    d) If the change was a body swap, looking for her original body.
    e) Looking for the succubus posing as a news presenter/weather girl/reporter, as Kettlekorn has somewhat guessed at.

I think I'd want to discard looking for an artifact to put the succubus back into (if she's still in there), because that normally wouldn't appear on the news because the news doesn't often do stories about art, archaeology, and exhibits.

    5) He did it to save his own life because by possessing him she was able to fix whatever was wrong with him
    6) He did it out of genuine love and compassion for someone, maybe even the succubus. Perhaps he was trying to save her life, and wasn't thinking about his own?

If positive messages are the key to Adore searching the news... maybe she's watching to get a glimpse of someone she knows, or some message or hint that someone still wants or cares for her.

Perhaps her entire family (like what happened with the carter twins) refuses to believe she's actually the boy they used to know and, hopefully, loved? She's hoping, night after night, day after day, to catch a glimpse of a sign that they do care, that they recognized her.

Or maybe that they gave up. "News at 11, the search for a missing boy attacked by a vicious mutant has been called off, parents heartbroken."

  • Re the "teenage boy willingly let succubus possess him":
Teenage boys are obsessed about sex. I know, I was one once. I believe the old chestnut of "men think about sex seven times per minute" (or whatever the claim is) was formulated after observing a male teenager. (Just for completeness, I should mention that #2 and #3 in the male teenage mind, back when I was a teen, were "motorcycles" and "cars" respectively)
Succubae are supposed to do... whatever they do... to men by having sex with them.
Maybe the boy gave permission to the Succubus because he thought it meant she would have sex with him? Demons are supposed to be deceitful, after all...
Alternately, if he was an Avatar, maybe she was in the process of removing the virginity of a teenage boy when... well... he lost control on climax and "captured" her in his Hallow.

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

  • I'm waiting for Adore to run into Mr. Finson.

Time For An Unexpected Gift wrote: Larry almost preened as he got his chance to explain his powers, “Hey… Larry Finson. Get this, I can do things to females when we touch, healing, read their minds a bit or knock them out and stuff. It does not work on guys at all and it works better with closer contact. That and it feels really good. I was going to call myself Succubus, you know, those sex demons?”

James coughed and, in the quiet between the snickers, suggested quietly, “Ahhh… you mean Incubus, right, like the band? A succubus is a female demon, man.”

The others started laughing and adding in their own suggestions as Larry turned red, “Yah, Larry the Succubus. Going to call yourself Laura?” “Maybe you should move over to Dickinson!” “No, Loralie, Loralie!”

    Hilarity should ensue.

... I need to find that quote, perhaps, and I might have said that before, but that info is sorta irrelevant? He could be an Avatar de facto, even if he's not one by mutation. Like with Kayda's spirit binding things. Did we do this already?

And does that also exclude Channeler, Paladin, etc? It could be a Devise, some sort of magic, so many other options?

It was the second post of this thread:

I wonder if Adore's dad/mom/close relative works for CNN. Because she is always watching CNN, not FoxNews, MSNBC, GNN, or any of the other news channels.

  • How long has JG had Adore at least rough outlined?

Yet Another Day as an Outcast, published 2007

The girl Caitlin was leading in was already showing signs of severe GSD, as she sported black-leather wings, and the black-spade tail and horns of a succubus, as well as the claws and body to match.

Also, who is the spider girl Thornie? I don't think we've seen her since.

The pale girl had red hair and was sporting six dark eyes that seemed like pools of reflected red or lavender without any features depending on the light. She had two on her temples and two on her cheekbones. She had that waifish “vampiric” look, and the docs were fairly convinced her diet would move that way.

IIRC, this is a change from the more spiderlike description of a girl with a thorax that was beginning to extend, and whose forearms had already started their split toward something more octopedal.

You are correct. She was already becoming an arachnophobes nightmare originally. But I can understand the change, this newer look gives more room to play.

    Somebody's "cheating"

current Yet Another Day as an Outcast wrote: Eldritch led in a rather blatantly exotic, redheaded girl, and settled her in next to the other three kids. Two girls, one boy and one somewhere in between but moving towards the male spectrum of life sat fidgeting and nervous. The girl Caitlin was leading in was already showing signs of severe GSD, as she sported black-leather wings, and the black-spade tail and horns of a succubus, as well as the claws and body to match. The boys looked fairly normal and were probably going to be paired off with some of the heavier GSD freshmen who they would likely get along with, as was the tradition of Twain and Whitman.

She had two on her temples and two on her cheekbones. She had that waifish “vampiric” look, and the docs were fairly convinced her diet would move that way. One of the boys was seemingly shifting and dissolving into shadowy mist and then phasing back to normal by parts when he wasn’t paying attention and odd mouths and eyes seemed to form in the dark parts to manifest on his skin, then vanish again. The other boy lucked out, merely being stuck with red fur and a fox tail to match the red hair and fox ears on his head. He looked more exotic than anthropomorphic, and oddly, he was the most self-conscious it seemed.

    As opposed to...

May 2017 Yet Another Day as an Outcast wrote: Eldritch led in an unassuming but fairly pretty girl, and settled her in next to the other three kids. Two girls, one boy and one somewhere in between but moving towards the male spectrum of life sat fidgeting and nervous. The girl Caitlin was leading in was already showing signs of severe GSD, as her legs were seeming to split at the bottoms and her ass seemed to expand into a white-furred spider-like abdomen that he knew would probably grow to terrifying proportions. The boys looked fairly normal and were probably going to be paired off with some of the heavier GSD freshmen who they would likely get along with, as was the tradition of Twain and Whitman.

The other girl was pale and gaunt as a vampire, in fact that was pretty much what she was at this point, given her fangs and sensitivity to sunlight. She hadn't yet shown signs of needing to drink blood, but everyone seemed to think that was the direction that she would go in. She would be housed in Whitman, while her spider-like compatriot would have to live in Hawthorne.

Seems JG has updated the story to match what is currently going on.

  • I don't have a problem with this sort of retcon -- it was quite minor and really, the old scene had absolutely zero impact on later storylines, since it was placed in what was at the time far into the future.

With that said, however... in the process, there was a paragraph which was apparently removed by mistake (probably because there was a new paragraph inserted, and whoever did the editing thought it was a replacement instead of an insertion):

The two boys looked antsy, as though nervous about all the monsters. Probably not far off given both of them, and their six-eyed companion had started off on opposite sides of the gender line.

“So what’d I miss?” Eldritch was in a fairly cheerful mood, even though her charge seemed somewhat apprehensive.

“Not much, we got done showing off the basics, did the tour of the Whateley ‘I’m cool so it’s mandatory that you see my stuff’ exhibit.” Jericho ticked off fingers as he talked. “We got bored waiting for you so me and Diamond both told stories about the kinda crap that happens around here at the school, all before we met you of course. You’re just too normal to make good conversational material.”

The blue paragraph is the new insertion, the red one is the one I think was mistakenly removed. As you can see, it contains the question Jericho is answering in the next one.

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

Some of us do re-read your stories once in a while :cheer:

Of course, with ADHD it's never quite the same read each time even when the words don't change. With billboards, the difference between what I should have read, and what my brain reported to itself can be quite entertaining. With street signs, not so much.

You all are thinking too hard.

It just occurred to me that maybe what JG is saying is that assuming fact not in evidence. At what point does anything said about Adore in-story indicate that she wasn't transgender in the first place? We know she isn't comfortable with her new powers, and specifically the way they affect her emotions and those of everyone around her.. but has anything been mentioned at all about how she feels about being female now?

So how about this scenario: Ali was trans, and wanted to be a girl. Someone she trusted - possibly a family member whom she was too young to realize is an utter psychopath and was manipulating her - convinced her that there's an easy way to do that. Just step into this circle for me, please...

BTW, if my suppositions about some of the other details are correct, Ali might qualify as a Bad Seed. I am guessing that we might even know who her mother is. Whether or not she knew her mother was a mystic supervillain before this event isn't clear to me, but it would have some bearing on just what sort of manipulation was going on.

But that isn't who she is watching for on the news - why would she. when that person makes Marzena look like Mother of the Year material? No, the he one she's watching for news of is a sparring partner of hers... the Green Witch.

Ugh. I think I just squicked myself again.

Yeah, that part occurred to me, but I was thinking that she didn't have to be her mother's arch-enemy, just that Adore had to have a reason to watch for her.

Lady Jettatura occurred to me as a near worst-case scenario when it came to parents, though I guess there are others who could be just as awful or worse. And let's face it, JG has shown a propensity for this sort of thing before, given what we now know of the Fury twins' backstory.

But I also don't really see JG pissing in Bek's pool like that without them both working on the character idea, and Bek hasn't piped up in this conversation yet (I don't think).

The bigger thing was my take on JG's 'missing the obvious' comment, because if Ali was transgender from the outset, it really changes the possible reasons it happened. Note that she said,

Adore wrote: apparently I manifested while playing host to a succubus, so now not only did my BIT imprint her, all of my powers are rigged to force people to pay attention to me.

If it is was a BIT imprint in manifestation, it implies that a) she has an active BIT now, meaning she is an Exemplar, and b) she wasn't manifested before it happened, and possibly not until some time after it happened, rather than when the possession/merging occurred. In other words, the soul occupation didn't happen due to her manifesting, but might or might not have triggered it.

That is to say, if her BIT imprinted on the possessing succubus, that means the succubus was already in her. Something put it in her body in a way that was unrelated to her being a mutant, or at least not directly related to it.

Of course, it is possible that she had already manifested, too, and that the imprint came before her BIT was fully stabilized. Say, when some mutant-hating religious nut tried to exorcise her mutation away, in a manner that went horrible wrong.

Either way, the new BIT was overlaid on top of, or even replaced, the one that she would have had.

But the specific thing that occurred to me is that JG loves to twist the knife once he's stuck in his characters. Having a trans character go to some elaborate lengths to transition through magic, only to later be told, "By the way, your an Exemplar, so you probably would have transitioned on your own once you manifested anyway, but hey, sorry for it going horribly right"? I can definitely see JG doing that.

I won't even try to guess how close I am coming. Probably not very close at all.

Considering the lengths to which some teens will go just to get attention, let alone for sex with another person, and how few guys would know to summon an incubus instead of a succubus, and the extremely low likelihood the kid would have been practicing safe summoning it's a miracle there aren't more mishaps. Then again, a lot of children do go missing every year.

And in other news, Adore's parents' high-profile divorce lawyers still haven't made enough progress to ask who's got custody of the child.

  • But that still doesn't explain what she's watching always the news for...

She has to be looking for incidents that are similar to what happened to her, whatever it is that we're just not able to figure out.

But if JG is to be believed about the comment about taste, it has to be something that is like...depraved enough to make the national or even world news, but not to such a degree that they wouldn't air it at all, like all the messed up horrors our world tends to hold when we look under some of the rocks. Scandalous, but not like...entertainment world or royalty or the ultra-rich.

  • That's all she has. There's not much plot relevant info as of now, other than Succubus Hawthrone Resident?

"Story" is being used... metaphorically, I guess? As a sorta-contraction of "Life Story"?

Lol if she's been planted to replace Sara, in someone's plans.

I'm on mobile right now, so page making is near impossible...

    The links to her non-page:

    crystalhall.wikia.com/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/Adore

But, I think I can make the page tomorrow... She's been named in nearly all her appearances... And "Adore" is uncommon enough a word that getting, like, 95% of her appearances through site search is possible...

And I think we've got pages for all the stories she appears in, so I don't have to be the Maker for those pages, which have multiple possible titles...

I might chain all the R&R stories first...

Gender-complicated as well. Alisaundra Hunter's briefly described in "Yet Another Day As An Outcast", introduced in "Siblings and Savages".

  • Hardly. Adore's not a replacement for Sara, she's simply very hard to write a story for with a modicum of class, and keeping her true to my intent for her.

Her story and Sara's do not intersect much at all except on the surface. and the pair would probably hate each other on contact due to... reasons.

But Adore's my character that if I cannot tell the story cleanly, I'm not telling the story.

Thank you for setting the story straight!

So, chances are super-low that Nimbus or someone, got her on campus 'cause they needed a succubus for reasons...

And hate each other on contact... Well... Mysterious! :)

She's been talking to Bellows... People with life-threatening secrets usually don't go to the psychs?

Likely just unlucky and got succubus-ed somehow.

WAIT... From Yet Another Day as an Outcast ... Is Adore is the pale girl "sporting six dark eyes" and the docs think need to drink blood?

Class. I think I gave that up for Lentils or something.

Malady wrote: And hate each other on contact... Well... Mysterious! :)

I think there's a lot more to the character that Branwen wrote about than the sum of her identity tags. For example, there are few things Sara has been shown to hate worse than willful hypocrites and people who blame others for their insecurities, failures, and other foul-ups. I doubt she's terribly fond of people who offer things they've no intention of following through on.

Let's say Adore made a foolish deal to get her where she is now: adored sexually by all. Then, in walks Sara, someone who fully owns what she's got, no apologies, and her very nature seeming to fly in the face of everything Adore might have been taught as a child. That would be someone who'd hate The Kellith, while still wanting to own her. That wouldn't fly.

Fey and Cytherea might not be on Adore's list of future BFFs either.

Why does it have to be clean? We had Tennyo goes to Hell, in which Jet essentially fcks her way up the evolutionary ladder... yet it was compelling at the same time.

  • You could trade Adore to someone for a couple draft picks and a player to be named later. I wouldn't recommend Elrod, he breaks all his toys.
But seriously, if her origin isn't something you feel comfortable writing, you could ask someone if they would ghost-write it with you.

Given the median age of incoming freshman (14, meaning the backstory may be happening to a prepubescent child), and some of the few details mentioned, one could quickly find themselves with content that flies past NSFW into NSFL territory.

Not to mention that after all the effort of getting the story written, reviewed, and revised, someone out there would still be getting themselves off to the darkest parts of the story.

That's assuming that Adore's original age is in keeping with her current physical age. It may not be as dramatic as, say, Ribbon. But the events could occur with someone of legal age at the time of transformation. Not knowing the story, we don't know. Then again, going back to Jett... as an off-shoot of Jade, hypothetically, Jett could be considered the same age as Jade, when all of the gone to Hell happened. But yeah, the only thing I could see as being a safe for Legality story is if along with the physical change, there were reason to fudge her age. "Well, you may have been a junior, but there are so many things now that you need to learn outside basic academics, that we are going to start you out as a Freshman".

It would also depend upon which country she comes from.

I don't recall if Adore is from the USA or from another country.

In the UK, the minimum age for heterosexual sexual activities is 16 years old.* In other European countries, it tends towards the 18 years limit, so it could be written as though she was of legal age.

That said, from the small amount that's been implied, she has been through some harsh experiences, which would mean that it's not necessarily going to be a nice story to write.

    * Even though the legal age is 16, when you have a 16-year old in a relationship with even a 19-year old partner, there's still a gulf of experience that causes some major power imbalances in the relationship, which is why that sort of relationship isn't going to be socially approved of.

The rule of internet dating tends towards being (the-older-partner's-age/2 ) + 7 years, being the minimum age for the younger partner, and even then the power imbalance can be difficult to deal with.

  • Uhh...can we just let this one go? If JG isn't comfortable writing that type of story, that's the answer.

    Someone catches on quick.

Writing that kind of story is not my issue.

Writing that kind of story involving an age demographic much younger than 25 is. I have little interest in writing graphic depictions of immature Bedsheet olympics.

It is not, nor ever was, something of any particular interest to me, and I would most emphatically object to someone writing that kind of thing about my characters FOR me.

Even Caitlin (as edge-case as she is) Is incredibly unlikely to get the treatment because of where she is, as well as issues created by her core changes and as the example she tries to set for the people who care about her. She has a few drawbacks that complicate this kind of thing that are heretofore unseen, because they are not important to the story yet.

  • Adore is / was mage? Has magic skillz?

    Summonings were involved, no doubt?

Did we ever learn why CNN and not news in general?

    ----

Was going to Sidhe, but is now Succubus, and Fairy Glamour synergizes with Succubus Glamour?

Sidhe-d first, then used magic boost for summoning?

    ----

Whoops, missed her explanation from Siblings and Savages chapter 1 :

“My name is Alisaundra Hunter and apparently I manifested while playing host to a succubus, so now not only did my BIT imprint her, all of my powers are rigged to force people to pay attention to me.”

She's leaving out details, but is she outright lying, anywhere?

CNN runs 24/7, and the word "addict" has come up more than once. What kind of addict isn't specified, but that could be one of her problems.

In which case, there's someone who doesn't need a headjack connection to the matrix.

Even allowing for the legality issues, it's not an easy situation to write about.

One that age statement above is older than the Internet, and I mean that literally (Even if you use 1969 as the date, for the birth). *I* first ran across it in "Number of the Beast" by RAH, published in 1972.

Two: Joe DOES not want to write smut, or anything approaching such. At this time I know more or less a few things, but won't discuss them here, and will say this: It's not the 'how it happened' problem, that is hitting him. Sometimes, the story is just hard to write (I'm having a few issues with RtS in that regard)

    1 - I didn't know that. TY.

2 - I'm sorry if i came across as "putting pressure". It's the last thing that i want to do here.

Engineer here, so sometimes i tend to think about the "how", rather than the "whether it's a good idea".

Also, i'm a musician, rather than a writer, so my creative work takes a different approach.

My apologies if i offended, or triggered any pain. None of my comments were made with any ill intention.

  • The "half the older one's age plus seven years" rule-of-thumb is actually pretty old. Heinlein himself attributed it to Little Women (1868/69), but it's probably older.

And it originally assumed that the older one was a male, and the younger one was female.

It also means that pretty much any woman upwards from mid-thirties is "fair game" to me. Although, to be sure, I would feel like a creepy old man dating someone in their twenties -- I mean, I have nieces (both natural and child-of-a-close-friend sort) in that age range! I shouldn't be dating them, I should be giving their dates the shovel speech while polishing a gun.

Where the thumb rule fails? Well, in a couple more years it would "allow" me to date my own goddaughter. Who, by the way, is well in the way of making me a grandgodfather, comes next May. No matter if they eventually reach the "half the age plus seven" range, the idea of dating someone who was in diapers when I was already an adult is still creepy as hell.

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

I found myself in roughly this situation just after i turned 39.

I was in a goth club, where i hadn't been for ages.

I ended up taking home this lady who was 29. Initially i thought it was going to be a good evening, but the more we talked, the more that i found how naive and inexperienced she was, and how sheltered her upbringing had been.

Even though her physical age was within my personal limits, her mental outlook meant that i wasn't really happy about her spending the night.

We didn't do anything, but talk and watch movies till after sunrise, and she got really grumpy when i offered her the spare bedroom.

It was an interesting experience to find that when my personal morality was tested that i would follow through with my ethical principles, but i did not like the feeling that i got from seeing myself as being creepy.

  • Earlier this year I was working with a youngster (46yo) who expressed some interest. I said I'd rather not. I'm not interested in a relationship of any sort. But at the same time she surely met the age*.5+7 rule for me, but meh... not my cuppa. Then again if I dated anyone in their early 30's, I've got kids that old! Not my cuppa any which way you want to cut that...
Now back to Adore: Just what is she? Is she still hosting the succubus? If not why not...
Maybe what happened is that she (the bit donor) approached 14yo horny out of his gourd teen. Said, I can get you help with that problem of being horny. Was hiding her nature when she seduced/entered him for the first time. She discovered much to her dismay that he was more akin to a tar-baby than the delectable treat she thought she was going to get to scarf up. She struggled trying to get lose, which set off the manifestation... The boy imprinted on her, and now has most of her attributes including a nearly uncontrollable sex drive, much worse than before, more psychic pleasure in feeling the arousal of those around her etc, let alone actual physical contact. So she is always fighting to keep her aura in check 'cause while it isn't like toting around a 18" boner, it still affects everyone around her. Indeed it would be easier in some ways toting around an 18" boner as most of the female populace would go ewwww! Get that thing away from me, and almost none of the male populace would be sexually interested, jealous without understanding what a burden such a pole would be (where is that centaur girl when you need to get laid with that sort of monster?)

So...we took the few clues you gave us, or that the other authors hinted at, with all the minor bits of information from the story appearances...and ran in the opposite direction with it?

    Time to collectively regroup!

  • Adore doesn't fit the usual tropes in the customary way.

But the story makes sense. In a certain horrifying kinda way.

  • So we will most likely get her origin as a second-hand retelling, rather than a detailed blow-by-blow?

Teacher 1: "That poor girl, when A happened then B and C occurred, so that she was stuck with D's"
    Teacher 2: "How horrible!"
