  • Things have been a little quiet on the Morpheus front recently, so fair odds that there's something coming through the pipeline soon.

I think more Dragonsfyre is likely unless Elrod (gently) muscles in ahead. A simple mince pie on the former and a Monty Python's Holy Grail beer on the latter.

Seriously, thank you for your time and effort. It is appreciated.

That is indeed cause for concern, and we hope for the best concerning Morpheus.
On the front of stories I hope to see, and will lay a wager on is anything by Phoenix Spiritus, something featuring Hank hopefully... One pot chili on the line. I've got a couple of bowls full in the freezer right now...

  • In general, gen 1 has been far behind gen 2 in the volume of story produced since last year. I think mostly part of that is that you sorta need to finish the repercussions of Lifeline's accidental murder of Murphy before you can get too in depth on what is going on around the school.

  • To be fair, Gen 2 felt like it was on a bit of a hiatus until the crew worked their way through Dorms 3 & 4 to set up the campus-wide social politics.

Both portions of the timeline ended up at a series of stories that have wide-sweeping implications.

Back on topic and for next week, I will wager a light-tasting leek soup on more As e'er beneath a waning moon.

Tink has appeared in canon a few times, but her stories haven't actually been ported over (or if they have they aren't released yet), and Domo himself hasn't popped in since September so no telling when or if we'll get more. Even just having her as one of the background cast is fun, though.

I don't have any pastries left, but I'll wager a slice of buffalo wing pizza on a new Danny story.

  • We haven't had a gen 1 story in a while, but I'm guessing we'll need to wait a bit longer for the next part of "All Hallows Ball"... so, I'm going to go with a longshot and bet a pint box of pralines on E.E. Nalley giving us another Gen 0 story, probably one involving both Kingston's Immortals and a nascent Mystic Six.

We knew you were working on other stories, at least from what you told us. Including some Gen 2 on the discord.

But if you're promising more Danny, Knockoff, Charge, and if I could make a selfish request, more Furies/TNT dates, consider my guessing range expanded!

  • So...on that very note, a double guess on one of two elrod stories!

    - A hangover-inspired greasy bacon and cheese croissant on that time Danny met Shine and got drunk after finding out about Kayda's choice.

    ...or...

    - A pile of flapjacks for a Knockoff tale about the origin of the Gen 2 Flying club.

She can't be that bad. Daniel was Special Forces, wasn't he? They are supposed to be trained to survive in difficult conditions. That necessarily includes some basic knowledge of cooking. I mean, whatever Hikaru cooks might not satisfy the teacher's standards, but should be edible and not make people sick.

You realise those adventures require an environmental superfund, right? :)

  • What about those jungle survival courses where Rangers are supposed to hunt snakes for food, among other gross stuff? Granted, that should lower considerably one's definition of "edible food"... but also should make one pay a lot of attention when your sergeant is teaching tricks to make it taste less awful.

The testing showed she retained the minimum math and reading levels to handle cooking as long as she's not trying to scale up a recipe or make substitutions. Where she'd go wrong is following the instructions exactly. That's something that mostly works for cake from a box, but tends to fail with pancakes.

I'll guess something involving Kayda, Tansy, a mysterious ball of twine, and an emotional crying fest. and since the Minnesota State Fair is going on, and we have practically everything on a stick... • If you go to "Discussions", there is a post saying there is no story this week.

Actually, I regard this week's story as the third limerick in this series:

    1:
There was a young lady from Crewe,
Whose limericks stopped at line two.

    2:
There was a young man from Verdun

Is it me, or have we suddenly gone from having at least something every week- regardless of whether it was a canon story or a filler story- to having no stories at all? I mean, there hasn't even been an update since the one posted nearly four weeks ago. This last month has been quite the literary dry spell, hasn't it? Surprisingly, it's coinciding with one of the longest and worst drought seasons we've had in the last couple of years here in Oz.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad there's even stories in the first place. I get that the wonderful authors are trying to deal with real life and with writing quality literature. But seriously, does no one- not even Morpheus with his library's worth of fiction posted elsewhere on the net- have something they could repost here or something? Or even an update on the dry spell? Whatever the situation, I'm hopeful that we'll have some more content sometime soon. And that this won't continue indefinitely. Because that would be really annoying, having spent so much time interacting with everyone here. For everything to just end prematurely and so anticlimactically would be a massive shame.

In the mean time, my (potentially) long-term bet for the next story is on another 2nd Gen story, since we've been getting a lot of those recently. Maybe another one from Wassamon?

IIRC, Erisian likes to review her (their?) work at least once more before posting. Also, the online editors for WhatIF posting have their quirks, so rushing to repost isn't likely to be fun.

Edit: I fully intend to binge-read "Call of Light" once it's all up.

  • I'm going to guess Elrod will come through with something related to Laura. I put up Oreo cookies.

  • We will be the first to admit that stories have been slow. However, we will have some exciting news coming very soon, and I think all of our fans will be quite happy. My schedule for November is quite packed - I'm a few days behind, but a story is rapidly getting to the point it can go to the editor and then get in the queue, and I hope to complete at least 2 more in November. And then there's our unspoken good news.

As much as you don't like not having a new story, trust us when we say we don't like not having a new story either. We're trying to rectify that situation. (And anyone who makes a crack about just needing a handful of diodes should go flog him/her self...)

  • We are grownups. We can be patient. Hang in there, authors. Life is balance and we are grateful for all of your gifts.

I don't know it the TINCC would like to have a proofreader join their number, but as I'm getting a bit more time (though not very regular internet access) I would be interested in proofreading for the authors since I seem to be going so slowly on any original work I might have underway with regard to a certain Gen 0 story I started....

  • Just a minor correction: I don't know if the canon cabal would like a proofreader but I will volunteer if it will get stories out sooner.
Now to get back to the topic of the thread, I wager one small pumpkin stuffed and baked! On something from Morpheus copious pen... I dare not guess what though... Maybe more Imp please!?

  • I can't tell you what story is going up tomorrow. I can assure everyone that the logjam has broken, and if a story doesn't appear tomorrow it's not because we don't have something scheduled.

  • It seems a little early for the annual Stacy update, but given that T4S were early in starting the FF VII Machinabridged update this year, I'm going to bet Bek was too, so I'll bet a chocolate Santa on Silver Ghost. There's some air-tight logic for you.

  • It's a few weeks too early for a Silver Ghost story. Maybe something from EE, JG, or Morpheus, who have all been quiet lately. Burger & fries.

    Happy Thanksgiving y'all!

  • Last week's Laura tale was so good. Turkey Day leftovers on more Karma adventures from Morpheus. Or maybe Glyph. I'm feeling some Gen2 Morpheus for sure. Cheers!
