  • Seemed to be a good place to put this.

JG wrote: While the description of Fury is buried in one of my stories, I believe this video captures the thematic of what happens when Phobos and Deimos go nuts.

Thematic, not what she actually does when she erupts and goes berserk.

Pay attention. This will be important in four and five stories (from me)

    Can I just say:

    YAY!

I can't participate seriously, in good conscience, because I'm already knowing what's coming up. Much as I love being an ass.

Than again, maybe Kristin? She's talked about a story?

Or... Concluding Silver Ghost, Golden Angel? Hmm...

  • Well, when you put it that way... I think we can bet it won't be the next Ashes, as you wouldn't have said anything at all if that were the case.

I'm still hoping for the next Diamonds, or maybe an Envy story (though Dr Bender hasn't been too vocal since she returned, I don't know if that's a good sign or a bad one), but my guess is those are still going to wait.

A carton of Fig Newtons on a group story for the 2007 new arrivals at Poe.

I wouldn't even be posting here had DanZilla not told me what the Foodie Bookies thread was. The concept tickled me.

I'm hardly the only person with something ready, by the way.

  • I need more Tia in my life.

But I doubt it, if it is a Gen2 story I would maybe bet on a Laura story ? If I remember correctly Elrodw said that he was working on one but it might be a little too soon and he has other things on his plate.

  • I can't participate either... and I've got such good ideas of what it could be since I compiled the list of what stories are in the "pipeline"... and their statuses... ;)

AS JG said, he's not the only one who has things ready to go... sadly we don't have so many that we can easily slip back to double-release weeks... but we've discussed the possibility in a few special cases.

I dunno... I liked JG's bid for "Delarose... International Man of Mystery".

But if I had to bet on anything I'd say it'll be a Cranberry Cheesecake on "She Beast's First Daddy-Daughter Dance".

  • Something from JG is likely so that we can avoid back-to-back installments from him, I think. I'll field some lamingtons on this one.

If I can be hopeful, I'd love to see part 3 of Silver Ghost, Golden Angel before December this year. :-p

Seriously, thank you for your time and effort. It is appreciated.

  • So If I am not mistaken those are the stories that are currently "to be continued" (I am not counting those that we know won't be because the Author doesn't write for the WU anymore. If I have missed one, feel free to correct me.)

    In Gen 1:
    The final trump
    A little R&R
Kayda 10: There's No Place Like Poe
The Bear, The Bitch and Everything
    Silver Ghost, Golden Angel
    A Good man
Diamonds Are a Vamp's Best Friend

    In Gen2:
    Rises the Sun
    Good Cop/Bad Cop
    Hunger
    Myriad Meetings
Eisenmadel 1: Summer of my German Heritage

A Mocha chocolate cake on Kayda there's no place like Poe part 4 and The bear, The bitch and Everything part 3 for monday. Une Poire belle Hélène on Eisenmadel 1 part 2 for Friday (and to be precise, not an actual Poire belle Hélène following the traditional recipe. I will hunt down the Baker from my folks's hometown who sold his business a decade ago without giving away his special recipe. It has left a hole in my heart that I have never been able to fill since then.)

    Gen 1:
I think JG has at least one more story done.
(Absinthe is supposed to be Sainted)

    Gen 2:
    The Road to Whateley

A Two Pound Cake on TNPLP, TBTBAE, and a Laura story for Gen 2.

  • I was going to point out one last time that the Road To Whateley wasn't on the list, but Valentine beat me to it. What? Why one last time? Oh, because it's finished. As is The Bear, The Bitch and Everything, which has four parts, then Elrod and I got together for a cute little story called Intervention and I even had time for a Vignette called Tea and Dagger. I might add some more to that one, but I also kind of like it as is, so NOW I'm working on finishing Killing Time the end of my Star Wars The Old Republic triology and The Untimely Frost.

And I'm only about 80% recovered from surgery.

I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.

  • Let's see. Abby being sainted is something that will almost certainly happen after the Kayda/Lanie/Tansy stories clear up (early September vs mid-October 2007), and the Kayda/Lanie/Tansy stories are parallel to each other anyway. I suppose we should expect to see both at the same time, each time, but there are more parts to No Place Like Poe, so presumably it goes farther and takes us into October with Danny's woes, but Kayda's side of things is already a little further along than the Lanie/Laneth stuff...

...but Nagrij has been fairly quiet on non-Whateley stories...

    :? :pinch:

You do realize that the only reason we list what stories we are expecting is so the authors will list stuff we don't know about.

True, but Final Trump is completely written, and Danny has to get rushed into Wondercute first or they lose the Cheshire Cat connection...unless poor, suffering endless indignities as the Herald, Rythax is forced into that role.

Huh? Oh... you know Chaosdancer is my in universe avatar in the Lit Chix, right? I don't think she's 'ever' appeared in a story. And other than showing her do her thing in a combat final breaking a bunch of people's brains with how her powers work... I doubt she ever will. But she's certainly not 'random' or someone to lump with the probability Warpers. In fact, lumping her with probability warpers MIGHT just break the planet.

Yep, the wiki was very clear about that. ... Well, she appeared in To the Mountain Part 3 ... Those are some interesting statements on her power interactions...

Yeah, just picked her 'cause, well, the name fits, at least... Jinx would have been an option, if she had a page, so I would have thought of her.

I'm thinking she's one of the 2 unnamed Junior High Kids, 'cause she's 12 by Fall 2006, and Less Than Three's the other... We know that there's only ten of them at the start of May 2007 as of A Pocket Full of Tansy ...

  • Chaosdancer has Warper based powers and is Exemplar 3 and is a member of a number of small clubs, including the Lit Chix, with skill/knowledge focuses ranging from the arts (music, drama, lit) to sciences (computers, electronics), from gaming to martial arts, and more than a few things in between.

Her Warper ability manifests in two primary techniques, one active and one (currently) passive:
Active technique: Causal Reversal - Chaosdancer has the ability to reverse the cause-effect chain of events, benefitting immediately from the results of staged events. Outside of combat, she can push this technique to uncover/learn knowledge or acquire skills before undergoing the process of researching/studying/practicing them. In combat settings, her ability to focus the technique is challenged... but if she is able to make it work, she can disable/kill her opposition and then take the action necessary to do so.

Passive technique: Positive Reinforcement - Chaosdancer's personal impressions of people tend to influence an aura effect over her Warping trait, that enhances people around her. Given than she tends to see people through 'rose colored' glasses, at their potential (for good or ill), her power reinforces this... making them stronger, more skilled, more helpful/dangerous. So while having her on your team is helpful in boosting your team's potential... it can also have the unfortunate side effect of also boosting the powers of your opposition. The more Chaosdancer knows about someone, the less likely she still 'idolizes' them... unless they do something that surprises her, in which event being impressed by them might give them an additional boost.

In the story bit that Malady noted, Chaosdancer is using her Causal Reversal technique to find a solution where they have few clues or a working path of research (ie, she's trying to skip the process of research and discovery and jump straight to the answer).

I assume it won't be about a new character but about an existing character who has not ever had a PoV story before then.

An Amelia Hartford PoV ? We are seeing more of her lately, or rather we are seeing a side of her we were not used to seeing before.

  • Team Awesome yes.

A Danny story would be awesome yes but I think it would be too soon (at the same time the stories that are in the queue have been written for a while now and Elrodw is a very prolific author so ... maybe).

A new Tia story would also be amazing, but I don't foresee that happening for a little while. (it's just that the discussion mentioned in Dorms of our lives with Tia about Jamie is something that I really want to read from her PoV).

I am going to say Team Awesome and Imp 5 part 3.

  • No forger, the current schedule has two stories released on Mondays, one on Fridays. If we have a larger piece (average release size being set between 20-25k words) we'll try to arrange it for Friday and if its a shorter one (< 20k words) we'll try to make sure its on Monday with another regular size piece. BUT... mostly scheduling is about taking what's in the pile and making sure we don't get anything out of order (spoilers suck for everyone)... and that we don't overkill on one thing (ie three pieces in the same week by one author - everything is dark and scary - they're all G2 stories, etc... unless everything else in the queue is also of that one thing, in which case we'll do the best we can to use the exceptions to break it up where we can). Otherwise... what comes out on Monday or Friday... can be pretty much anything.

  • We were doing two per week on Mondays for a while, but we were accumulating more than were going out, so the pile was getting deeper and deeper... and to be honest, it was blocking access to the scotch. Someone put their foot down... actually, a number of feet were down, its hard to be sure who all it was. Though, now that I think about it, someone did yell out "right foot blue" right before that. So maybe we didn't need to change the schedule at all...

  • I'm a bit surprised that you put the Library story on a Friday. My impression was that readership was lower for those, and I assumed that they'd therefore be better off when paired with a companion. The story length balancing makes just as much sense though.

Of course Authors are allowed to bet!

It's just firmly understood that any bet we make is misdirection. and probably pure fantasy at that!

And by 'fantasy', I mean 'does not exist' not, you know, one our normal made up stories.

  • So sad that we lost the number of stories tagged... Aw well. It was fun while it lasted.

Presumably, Kayda 11's started, and possibly done. Likely there'll be a Kayda 12...

Absinthe 2... Possibly the conversion's been finished? It's mainly Kristin that's been overseeing that, IIRC??

Seeing young AJ... Possibly, but there's so many Gen2 threads open, narrowing it down is tricky?

Pastry... Croquembouche? Or has that already been taken? At least I spelt it right...

We have enough in the pipeline that I would wager a Key Lime Pie we'll get back to three a week for a while later this year... and that's not counting the 'mostly' I mentioned.

Seriously, thank you for your time and effort. It is appreciated.

  • Welllllllllllll, I was going to bet on Chou for Monday, but that story showed up Friday.

Hmmm, the fall semester is all over the place, some stories at the beginning of Sept others thru mid Oct.

    Silver Ghost Dec 06
    Vamp spring break 07
    Ex Ethan mid August
    Glow end of Aug
    Hank early Sept
    Esoteric early Sept
    Chou early Sept
    Outcasts early Sept
    Kayda, Lanie mid Sept
Ribbon and Roulette End of Sept
    Imp early Oct
    Sphere early Oct
    Absinthe Mid Oct
    Shine
    Elle Ruud
    Envy
    Knockoff
    Mischief
    Murphy
    Pegasus
    Scapegrace

I think that is a complete summary of Gen 1 Whateley students and Glow with POV stories and where there stories are timewise. The ones without dates have been seen on campus, but haven't had POV stories yet.

So given this, I put some Bread Pudding on Glow and Eisenmadel.

  • While it's likely to be something Gen 2, we've already had a piece from JG this week, so I'll pass on renewing my bet on Reinforce.

    Some pretzels on Glyph, then.

Seriously, thank you for your time and effort. It is appreciated.

Well at least until Silver Ghost, Golden Angel concludes we are only going to get those stories during the holiday season, and we will not be able to consider her at Whateley Academy until at the very least Madcap is dealt with, and there are outstanding issues too, Goonstar, and her abandonment issues come to mind. it gets less likely the larger the gap becomes.
We know Glow isn't going to be at Whateley, for reasons explained in A Glow in the Darkness Part 3,
of course there is the whole advantage of without much going on you can mostly skip through events and I would say all the Early sept/end aug are relatively at the same points for progression.

Any Bad Ideas I have and microscene OC character stories are freely adoptable.

  • A package of bonbons on a Morpheus heist story titled "Tetherball," you can guess who the main participants are.

Alternatively, a three layer cake for the next segment of Diamonds are Vamp's Best Friend.

"What are you in for, mate?"

    "Oh, I was a fence dealing in...uh... Stolen… Pastries…"

"If I was you, mate, I'd never shower again…"

  • A shocking reappearance by DrunkFu for Ecila 3.

Man, I dunno if I should bet something huge, or something tiny. Seriously, that's just not gonna happen no matter how much I would like it to.

Meh, let's go with a pint of Irish Cream on Shieldwall's first solo story, instead. I don't bet on Gen 2 often enough anyway.

    Out, damnéd Spot! Bad Doggy!

As with all of the authors, there's a standing offer of mead and gossip if they're ever passing through London.

I can also show you around the local Devisors/Gadgeteers workshop... :D

The bet was 'a pint of Irish Cream on the first Shieldwall solo story'. However, thanks to the artwork for him (Jimmy, one of the FTM changelings) popping up on the forum art rotator, I just realized I got confused about codenames; I was thinking of Backtrack (Bailey, one of the MTF changelings) but somehow got the names tangled. As I said in another thread, my memory is a Gordian knot.

Basically, the joke was, a pint of Bailey's on Bailey. I blew it, though. Me R Da Dumazz.
