Tanya Wright, Invictus ... Whateley Academy ... maybe it's just a hidden trap, intent on making you lose yourself to a destiny that was never meant to be yours.
Has she picked out her codename yet? ... Wait, did she inherit her mom's codename? ... I wonder how figurative 'destiny' is, given Prophecies and stuff of the Whateley-verse...

I don't actually intend to write a literal origin story for Tanya at all. Don't need to add yet another one to the list, especially when y'all will be finding out plenty of her backstory soon enough, in a story that takes place on campus.
And yes, she took on her mom's old codename as her own, I can tell you that much. As far as all of the destiny/prophecy stuff? You'll just have to wait and see how that all plays out!

While I appreciate your attempt to conceal the spoiler (and don't really care about said spoiler), you should really label what it is a spoiler to. Otherwise nobody has any way of knowing if it's something they already know, something they don't care about, or something they want to avoid being spoiled on.

Secret Lab is a major arc I think, even if Jamie is removed from the picture, it still will go on, the New York mix up wont last long though, but it wont be held against Kimba Gen 2 ( I refuse to use the long winded name) as they WERE involved in an incident in New York. the Jamie situation will be cleared up before the end, but not before serious damages, Kimba Gen 2 will all agree that next time they encounter people intent on robbing them they will ask "Are you.. robbing me/us?". Tractor may eventually learn about Poe, most likely from natural deduction, and observation.

Very good points. He also has done Wine, Women and Ayla. and did the Ayla final, but that's limited, and I would say only to the extent the plot requires. To be honest, right now it feels anything I guess further has a 5% chance of being accurate. Now as for what I WANT; I want to see Danny introduced to Jade, but I THINK a few things have to happen story wise before we can get to THAT glorious moment.

Edit: I know statistically its about a 16% chance (well 16.666 continued but I'm leaving the .6666 incase we get a new character protagonist or an Ayla)

But you said that your chosen ship is hard to guess, so this sounds like a job for Bloodwolf. Sure he's a bit of a fixer-upper, but all the best things in life take some work to get.
Then again, Danny's spirit is a cougar, so maybe he'll be paying more attention to the junior high kids. Perhaps Diz has improved her control enough over the past year to venture out of Hawthorne, and there's also Clover. The other two witches will be freshmen, same as Danny, so no cougar action there. Besides, they don't have puppy familiars. Clover is clearly the better match.
And let us not forget Danny Ferris, who was last seen handcuffed to a Chicago-bound cattle car. But that was back in '06; he's had plenty of time since then to make his way to Whateley and into Danny Franks' arms. DF/DF; OTP.

Let start it off with a bet of a Godiva 20-piece sampler on it being: Loophole, with a gauntleted power-armor fist (while reminding him that she could have made it much worse by using her claws instead), after Peeps said something about wanting to see the film of Lanie and Kayda a little too loudly in the Crystal Hall during dinner. The rule was set by Ms. Hartford, though Carson backed her up on it afterwards, on the basis that it would not only forestall overt attacks on John, but also made it clear to both Pejuta and Kodiak not to retaliate in any direct manner, while at the same time making sure to send a message to Peeps that if he kept it up they wouldn't hold them back next time.
The date was actually rather quiet; John was too afraid to say much, not just because of the threats, but because, Diedrick's or no, he didn't really expect to ever get a date with an Exemplar and was hopelessly tongue-tied.
Oh, and Alya turned off the tablet for a week, as a reminder to Peeper of that little threat.

Possibly Aquerna with Hazmat, if she accidentally manages to purge her anti-heat meds and the spirit takes control or something... She strikes me as the one with the most reason to be pregnant, with her spirit urging her on...?
Mmm... Nevermind, we've advanced too far for that to happen... And the candidate most supported by info would be Loophole and Kodiak, due to the Wicked Character Sheet... We're still early enough that that's a possibility?

With all that we have shown you about the lack of impulse control in exemplars, about the statements of the mental diseases that they suffer from with Galahad syndrome and Hercules syndrome, about how the teen pregnancy rate of mutants is significantly higher than the normal average, you're all missing the point.
The question is not how would Whateley handle a teen pregnancy.
The question you should be asking is why are there not any pregnant teens at Whateley now? Because there aren't any.

Ah... Yeah.

I was thinking just like, slightly warm... But then again, are condoms heat-resistant enough that it'd have to burn to break them? I don't think so??
Also, TNT isn't a character.

Malady wrote: I was thinking just like, slightly warm... But then again, are condoms heat-resistant enough that it'd have to burn to break them? I don't think so??
Tisiphone being an exemplar, they need a Brick condom. And i suppose the Brick condom is heat-resistant enough that a malfuction due to the heat would probably be quite painfull ...
Avoiding injuring your partner is your top priority. Fortunately, several sexual aids are available for Exemplars so they can really let loose. First and foremost is the Brick Condom, made for both sexes. Highly durable, these Condoms are made from a patented ‘rubber’ that can absorb a significant amount of kinetic energy, and are coated with a high-slip surface that reduces friction. The same company that makes these gadgets has links with several space exploration programs. These are a must-have item for any Exemplar, even if you don’t plan on having sex in the foreseeable future. It is recommended that you keep at least one on your person at all times. Another extremely useful gadget is Exemplar Handles. The majority of sexual injuries caused by Exemplars involve the hands. Using these bars as grips, usually affixed to a strong surface, prevents incidental clawing, scratching and pummelling assuming that they are used correctly. Be sure to use Handles appropriate to your Exemplar level.
In vulgar circles, there’s a certain injury sustained by normal men during intercourse with Exemplar women that they call the ‘c**t crush’. Involuntary spasms of the vagina and legs during coitus can severely injure a man’s genitals, pelvic region and back when using certain sexual positions. Again, always insist on a reinforced brick condom, and avoid the missionary position. If you must, a special girdle can be purchased that will take the sting out.

Well duh that's why they're fighting.

The Polar Bear Emperor already rules all crime in the Arctic Circle and is now moving to the South, very, very, very far south. His polar bear and walrus minions have increased the drug trade and illegal fish smuggling 500%, all those who had stood in his way were fed to the Emperors pet leopard seal. Now only Penguin Boy, the brave teen with the spirit of the emperor penguin can stop him now.

We haven't really seen any testing in "full." All we've seen is snippets that covered either basic testing, most of the characters we've seen tested. Or a couple more detailed testing things, Phase and Whisper, and those focused on a few aspects of their powers. Phase going "light" and "heavy" repeatedly, or Whisper doing physical stuff.
Whateley and the DARPA/DOD testing facilities may be the only two full testing facilities in the US or possibly the Americas. Having the facilities to fully test the 20 or so different mutant powers would be quite expensive, especially when you get into all the sub categories and Faux and Pseudo and Fake power suites. That is isn't saying that the MCO in Chicago, LA, NYC and other big cities isn't very good, or various Super Hero Groups and Wizards don't have great facilities, they just probably aren't as complete as Whateley's and DARPAs.
Also remember that Powers Testing is only as accurate as the person giving the test.
Don't Drick and Drive.

Instead the basic stuff is glossed over (just enough to show it was done), and any detail concentrates on the interesting (ie non-standard) bits.
A good power testing facility is expensive. Not only that, you need high class experts who are expensive (and who get bored if they don't get a series of interesting cases).
For example, in the UK they have about 10 regional testing centres (they don't need a lot of small ones, its a small island) which are adequate for testing 95% of mutants (remember, you see a skewed sample in the stories, trending to the complex/powerful ones). For anyone too powerful, complicated or downright weird they maintain one faciltiy for the country. This doesn't operate all the time (even in a high population country like the UK, they simple don't get that many in that class manifesting all the time), so they bring in the high-end researchers to run the kit once a month for a few days. DragonsFyre missed out as they couldnt find her a slot before she had to go to Whateley. In any case, researchers being researchers, they'd have done a full test at Whateley anyway.

We already had some of that, like Ayla or someone was tested by a Supergroup and then Whateley gave a totally different rating...
Yep: Wiki on Sunscreen
Sunscreen does Ayla Goodkind's initial powers testing.
The Powers testing wonks at Whateley are very amused by Sunscreen's inability to do reliable powers testing.

sam105 wrote: One of the things I hope to see is some comparison of Whateley testing and other places testing to see which ones are close to accurate and which ones are really bad.
Won't happen. The range is just too large. There are Police precincts in every city over 100-200k population that handle that area's first tier testing and basic legal stuff regarding the acquisition of paranormal powers. They also tend to work in conjunction with a regional supers group and/or college to offer basic powers training and safety orientation. And this is adequate for maybe... 50% of all mutants... and really doesn't include much that you wouldn't find in a fitness center with an attached clinic. MCO or Federally backed paranormal groups fill the next tier and pick up maybe 30-40% of the remaining mutants who are clearly going to require specialized equipment. Those are a 'regional level' ... usually handling tests for several states. And then there are top tier places that are home to the researchers and techs who are really developing the diagnostics and processes that everyone else tries to emulate. Whateley, ARC, a couple DARPA run sites, a couple military bases, one or two private companies.
The sort of things Whateley does in testing really focuses on finding out how the kid has mutated/manifested. In a lot of cases, they already understand the scope of the powers... because the common powers traits are just that... they have been seen enough times that they are recognizable. The guys in local cop shops and colleges? They're dealing with the kid whose skin has scaly patches and can bench 300 lbs. Or the young woman who can generate enough light to replace a flashlight. They just want to make sure these people really are mutants (no sir, your son has been taking steroids... he's not actually a mutant. no, the kid doesn't need anti-psychotics, he really does have a voice talking to him)... and that they don't have a dangerous ability that has developed unnoticed by anyone.
That's so far from what Whateley is testing for... that you can't really even claim similarity.

Fate guard you and grant you a Light to brighten your Way.

We've already seen some of this anyway, between Jade's, Phase's, Whisper's and the few others.
The cop interviewing Jade was doing the best he could.
Sunscreen was just incompetent despite having good equipment.
Whisper had a topnotch, except for the magic test, test.
Ribbon's was competent.
Unless the testing is important to the story, there isn't much needed beyond a Susie went in and got tested and maybe giving out her ratings.

Misty may end up going through a Dark Misty scenario with another Team. One that is more serious and hero oriented.
Mikew the squirrel is a minor character of Wabanaki folklore. According to legend, Mikew was once a large carnivore like a wolf or bear but the culture hero, Glooscap, decided he was too ferocious and dangerous to humans and shrunk him to his current size. However, Mikew retained his ill-temper, and often is portrayed as a busybody and troublemaker.
The Wabanaki are in the northeast US/southeast Canada, so that spirit is native to the area.

We don't know if she is teaching imp-pressionable youngsters her talents in Gen 1 or Gen 2 just from the fact that it's an Imp tale; if it's Gen 2, then both the gen 1 and gen 2 cabals would have read it. If it's Gen 1, then it's imp-plausible that Neo would have had an opportunity to read it, since it's imp-plicit that Gen 1 can access ALL Whateley, but Gen 2 can only access Gen 2.
You wanna cry uncle yet?
Oh, and since nobody bet on Kayda for this week's story, does that mean I get to keep all my pastries?
Imp-ortant information was passed on by your imp-osing post there. I was unaware that the Gen 2 authors were imp-ovrished with their lack of access to the Gen 1 imp-rovisations. Now I know that it will be imp-ossible to bribe them for information on Gen 1.
Can I cry Auntie instead?

Looking at the wiki, Imp drops out of the super scene at around the current Gen 1 timeline, so Imp's hiring for Gen 1 Y2 makes sense.

The last Imp tail ends with her asking Mrs. Carson when she can start. The date is June 30, 2007. Not a lot of time, but then again one of my nieces was hired to teach around Aug 10th this year, classes started on the 17th.

That latter one happens a lot, because the best candidates will have applied in multiple places within the region they want to teach in, so several schools will have seen the same people and only one is going to get that top choice.

When I was teaching English in China, they'd usually have the replacement chosen by the end of March. It was better for them as they could assign students, classrooms, and do all the paperwork without being rushed. I'd assume they do the same everywhere.
Of course they always have some teachers who suddenly decided to skip out on a contract, or simply couldn't come for some reason. That was how I was first hired by a college on September 10th, after the school term actually started. They were desperate for anyone who looked competent and could start the next day.
So having Imp vetted in mid spring, offered a job at the end of spring or beginning of summer would probably be a bit rushed, but still be within the norm, allowing her to start on the first day of the Fall term.

Sophia Isenhart is one of the gadgeteers and engineers behind Japan's high tech island building project (her gadgeteer focus is on power generation, storage, and flow/transfer systems... she is the creator of the rechargable Spikes storage cell system that is used in the GridGear seen in Shieldwall's stories) and may have been mentioned in that aspect by Gen 2 but during the Gen 1 time frame, she is involved in one of the most important projects of the century for Africa and Europe - the Solar: Egypt project. The story takes place while she's on site in the Sahara having just overseen a critical stage in the project... and is told to take a break, take in some scenery. She could fly home for a little break (she's from a small town in northern Switzerland - I'm thinking probably Steckborn or nearby) but the locals have never really treated her or her family well... so... she does as she's told and plays tourist. The Nile is pretty. There are pyramids (you're right!) ... and things happen. Things that lead to Indiana Jones style adventure.Malady wrote: whateleyacademy.net/index.php/forum/the-...tants?start=10#24863

Hmmm. Morpheus' 1st Gen characters both arrived, in fan fic, after the start of the semester so I don't expect those until after we meet other incoming Freshman at Whateley, like Danny/Danica and Amelie and whatever other students will be introduced, or at least the Kimbas return and ooh and aah over what Phase bought them.

When she sat down next to Danny, though, my first thought was that Cassie had indeed found her way to Whateley, but when I heard the name Melissa I sort of... well, it just sounded like it would be bad news for Danny. I was think much the same thing, with Envy or Roulette being the ones I had the most in mind. OTOH, I don't know how far Morpheus is on canonizing Absinthe (which I never read the original of, come to think of it).
So... a bag of dark chocolate covered pretzels on Roulette showing up, even if she isn't the main character of the story.
Oh, and my bet about Cassie showing up in the first three weeks of the 2007 school year still stands. I'll throw in a jar of Nutella that she shows up on foot, having walked all the way from wherever it was her mother lives - seriously, from the way she talked it seems like she'd just keep walking no matter how far it is, a smile on her face the whole time as she marveled at everything she passed. She's got a real Ryoga Hibiki vibe to her when it comes to traveling, just without the whole 'grim determination' and 'getting lost in his own back yard and ending up on another continent' parts.

I wonder if it's done yet... And who's who. Given that it was mentioned in Boys of Summer, I'm guessing the Bitch is Tansy... But, could be someone else? There's no Dog-girls on campus, so the 'female dog' angle is likely a no.

And if something like this happens, the aftereffects will be interesting... From Wikipedia on The Girl, the Gold Watch & Everything :
