Lol, who says I'm not, Dom? There is kind of a reason I mentioned her, besides just the fact that I'm watching her in the corner feeling left out because everyone forgot about her. ;)

    And you didn't tell me?
    I'm hurt. :(

Ok, a freshly baked golden cake with brown sugar sprinkled on top for a Tanya story.

I'm happy to remember about Tanya.

  • Hmm... How long can we go without Tanya's Origin? Or have it delivered progressively via flashbacks?

Tanya Wright, Invictus ... Whateley Academy ... maybe it's just a hidden trap, intent on making you lose yourself to a destiny that was never meant to be yours.

Has she picked out her codename yet? ... Wait, did she inherit her mom's codename? ... I wonder how figurative 'destiny' is, given Prophecies and stuff of the Whateley-verse...

I don't actually intend to write a literal origin story for Tanya at all. Don't need to add yet another one to the list, especially when y'all will be finding out plenty of her backstory soon enough, in a story that takes place on campus.

And yes, she took on her mom's old codename as her own, I can tell you that much. As far as all of the destiny/prophecy stuff? You'll just have to wait and see how that all plays out! 8-)

    Gen1:

    Kayda
    Absinthe

    Imp
    "Round and Round" girl Sphere
    Bronze (Zenith Clone)

    Gen2:

    Eisenmandel
    Cerulea
    IDTWIKA
    Road to Whateley
    'Quantum Suicides' Set
    Blood Sisters
    Tavi
Stonewall Pretty sure you mean Shieldwall, although I'm actually pretty amused that Tavi is listed separately from him.
    Hikaru
    Kenshin

    ... Anyone else?

    Danny
    Esoteric
    Mischief
All the King's Men... - Umm...this was supposed to be a one-off vignette. I know I'm not working on any second part to it.
    Ribbon
    Shine

    My fruitroll is on Sphere.

    Silver Ghost
    Victor Rivera

My guess completion of IDTWIKA, and/or Kayda 8 part 3 - LOL, IDTWIKA has at least three more parts, most likely four, so it won't be completed for a while yet.

    ...
And in all that listing, no one remembered Tanya? :(

Well, given my fascination with Setup... Let's just stick of all Elrod's characters into this chain...

    Knockoff
    Charge
    TNT + Furies

    And Morpheus...:

    Roulette
    Glow
    Lodestone
    Glyph
    "Ringleader's Gem" Girl

You may not be writing a sequel, but I expect that someone is.

You broke up one team, caused severe distress to another, and you want to just leave it at that?

A Combat Final, but not the end. None of them graduated, so unless they all drop out of school, there is more to the story.

While I appreciate your attempt to conceal the spoiler (and don't really care about said spoiler), you should really label what it is a spoiler to. Otherwise nobody has any way of knowing if it's something they already know, something they don't care about, or something they want to avoid being spoiled on.

you can label spoiler tags like this: [ Click to expand ]

Secret Lab is a major arc I think, even if Jamie is removed from the picture, it still will go on, the New York mix up wont last long though, but it wont be held against Kimba Gen 2 ( I refuse to use the long winded name) as they WERE involved in an incident in New York. the Jamie situation will be cleared up before the end, but not before serious damages, Kimba Gen 2 will all agree that next time they encounter people intent on robbing them they will ask "Are you.. robbing me/us?". Tractor may eventually learn about Poe, most likely from natural deduction, and observation.

  • Hmm... Well, no Secret Lab this update... I wonder if it'll appear in Kansas 5?

And the Amazons seem to be a good focus to carry into Kansas 5... But how much of it's going in Kansas 5? ... How much of it was Kansas 4, anyway? And how much was the Taka Model Arc?

Posting 'cause Kettlek labeled this as PW (PostWhore) Thread Alpha.

  • But good news. As is often the case... we just went from sending it out as fast as it comes in to "everyone finished stuff at the same time" ... So, I haven't had any G1 stories to offer for a month. This Monday, I have to choose between three or four G1, and one or two G2 pieces. Pretty sure at this point, its going to be a G1 release... but which one? Now that would be telling (and would ruin all the fun of the bakery gambling olympics team).

    Kayda 8 part 3?
    Absinthe?
    Sphere?
    Whisper 2?
    Loose Cannons in Vegas?
    More Hank?
Something surprising from one of the new authors?

I think a Blueberry Scone on more Kayda, now in Europe. (That should confuse Snakey.)

and whatever EE has planned for Lainie (I assumed that is on hold for a bit)

and maybe a STAR League Jr. story.

BoS was split into the graduation vignette and the actual road-trip adventure. Kayda 8 takes place AFTER BoS.

... How much would that narrow it down by?

Well, Elrod's running Cerulea in Gen2...

    From crystalhall.wikia.com/wiki/ElrodW ...

There's Kayda... "He also took over Charge, previously a minor character, and turned her into a protagonist. He has also introduced several new characters such as Knockoff, 'Shine"

Which also means Amelie Vitesse... [Who I need to update that she mutated...] Am I missing anyone?

    Danny.

He has quite a few character in South Dakota he could run with, Danny and Kayda's Parents and their new mutant hired help, Sioux Falls League, Kayda's ex-girlfriend who's now a woods elf ...

There's his collaborations with E. E. and his stable of characters (Lanie, Wyatt, Traduce, ...)

There are all the characters I'm pushing for Elrod to ship with Danny ....

There's so much Elrod could do :-p

Very good points. He also has done Wine, Women and Ayla. and did the Ayla final, but that's limited, and I would say only to the extent the plot requires. To be honest, right now it feels anything I guess further has a 5% chance of being accurate. Now as for what I WANT; I want to see Danny introduced to Jade, but I THINK a few things have to happen story wise before we can get to THAT glorious moment.

Edit: I know statistically its about a 16% chance (well 16.666 continued but I'm leaving the .6666 incase we get a new character protagonist or an Ayla)

  • I believe he is also writing more about what happens after the Wondercute final. There is also Elle Ruud, but I don't remember which gen she is supposed to be.

I think there is more of Phase's Summer Vacay in the works, not sure about the author though.

There were a couple more Summer stories planned. NORAD A & B are still standing, and Jade hasn't destroyed a Syndicate Base in months.

I'm still hoping for Round and Round, or Absinthe.

  • Look, Jade doesn't destroy Syndicate bases!

Well, OK, they tend to be destroyed while she's there, but seriously! It wasn't Jade!

In Kansas they blew up their own base, and NORAD was the US government with Nukes! That is in no way Jade's fault what-so-ever!

  • I have a preferred Danny ship.

I've been bombarding Elrod with plotlines and micro-scenes and story arcs and everything trying to get him to bite.

I really, really want this ship, and I'm almost positive people won't guess who I'm trying to ship Danny with.

Actually, that was meant as a joke, but I really want to see Puppet get a boyfriend (or girlfriend) now. Does anybody have puppy dog eyes I could borrow for beseeching our wonderful authorlords?

  • Everybody jumps to the cat-girls, but that's boring. I say set him up with Lupine. Cats and dogs are a time honored tradition, after all.

But you said that your chosen ship is hard to guess, so this sounds like a job for Bloodwolf. Sure he's a bit of a fixer-upper, but all the best things in life take some work to get.

Then again, Danny's spirit is a cougar, so maybe he'll be paying more attention to the junior high kids. Perhaps Diz has improved her control enough over the past year to venture out of Hawthorne, and there's also Clover. The other two witches will be freshmen, same as Danny, so no cougar action there. Besides, they don't have puppy familiars. Clover is clearly the better match.

And let us not forget Danny Ferris, who was last seen handcuffed to a Chicago-bound cattle car. But that was back in '06; he's had plenty of time since then to make his way to Whateley and into Danny Franks' arms. DF/DF; OTP.

  • For shame, has everyone forgotten Cassie? She could end up at Whateley too, for all we know. Danny even told her about the school, and it's a good guess that even if she can't talk her mother into sending her, she'll just walk there anyway - no matter the distance. You know she'd do it, too.

So, I'm now opening bets on whether she'll be at Whateley in Fall 2007, on what Cassie's codename will be, and on how many microseconds it will take for her to get recruited into Wondercute :silly:

  • Betting on the specifics of how the "Peeper Rule" came about is now open. Specific bets may include, but are not limited to: whether there is anything more than a school legend behind the story, whether the details will be revealed and if so how long will it take for it to get released, who hit him, what she hit him with (foot, fist, ball, sledgehammer, nunchaku, tire iron, etc.), what he said to her to provoke it, where it happened, who was there to see it go down, which of the administrators set the rule, whether the original offender was forced to follow the rule or if it was set as a threat against future attacks, and who, if anyone, was actually forced to go on a date with John.

Let start it off with a bet of a Godiva 20-piece sampler on it being: Loophole, with a gauntleted power-armor fist (while reminding him that she could have made it much worse by using her claws instead), after Peeps said something about wanting to see the film of Lanie and Kayda a little too loudly in the Crystal Hall during dinner. The rule was set by Ms. Hartford, though Carson backed her up on it afterwards, on the basis that it would not only forestall overt attacks on John, but also made it clear to both Pejuta and Kodiak not to retaliate in any direct manner, while at the same time making sure to send a message to Peeps that if he kept it up they wouldn't hold them back next time.

The date was actually rather quiet; John was too afraid to say much, not just because of the threats, but because, Diedrick's or no, he didn't really expect to ever get a date with an Exemplar and was hopelessly tongue-tied.

Oh, and Alya turned off the tablet for a week, as a reminder to Peeper of that little threat.

    Out, damnéd Spot! Bad Doggy!

  • Hmm... Any bets on when the first story with teen pregnancy set in Whateley Academy will appear?

Possibly Aquerna with Hazmat, if she accidentally manages to purge her anti-heat meds and the spirit takes control or something... She strikes me as the one with the most reason to be pregnant, with her spirit urging her on...?

Mmm... Nevermind, we've advanced too far for that to happen... And the candidate most supported by info would be Loophole and Kodiak, due to the Wicked Character Sheet... We're still early enough that that's a possibility?

Hmm... TNT and Tisiphone? ... Perhaps? Condom failure via fire powers? Or something?

Then again, why must it happen at all?

  • The school uses the threat of expulsion (while at the same time making sure that birth-control is easily available, even if it's not quite official) to make sure people are careful. But it probably does happen now and again anyway, and is discreetly dealt with in some way. Perhaps the girl takes a "sabbatical" and attends classes online for the duration or something.

  • I thought that pregnancy could not happen in Whateley due to something that has yet to be explained (and may never be) :

    E. E. Nalley wrote: Would you like a WOG response?

    Okay, here you go:

    You're asking the wrong question.

With all that we have shown you about the lack of impulse control in exemplars, about the statements of the mental diseases that they suffer from with Galahad syndrome and Hercules syndrome, about how the teen pregnancy rate of mutants is significantly higher than the normal average, you're all missing the point.

The question is not how would Whateley handle a teen pregnancy.

The question you should be asking is why are there not any pregnant teens at Whateley now? Because there aren't any.

    Ah... Yeah. :pinch:

I was thinking just like, slightly warm... But then again, are condoms heat-resistant enough that it'd have to burn to break them? I don't think so??

Also, TNT isn't a character. :pinch: ... I meant Nitro ... Who, as "energizer specializing in explosions" ... Does he have some heat/fire-resistance?

Nitro X Tisiphone get a Fire Power kid? ... Ember? ... Well, can't do Time Travel Future Kid... :|

Tisiphone being an exemplar, they need a Brick condom. And i suppose the Brick condom is heat-resistant enough that a malfuction due to the heat would probably be quite painfull ...

Avoiding injuring your partner is your top priority. Fortunately, several sexual aids are available for Exemplars so they can really let loose. First and foremost is the Brick Condom, made for both sexes. Highly durable, these Condoms are made from a patented ‘rubber’ that can absorb a significant amount of kinetic energy, and are coated with a high-slip surface that reduces friction. The same company that makes these gadgets has links with several space exploration programs. These are a must-have item for any Exemplar, even if you don’t plan on having sex in the foreseeable future. It is recommended that you keep at least one on your person at all times. Another extremely useful gadget is Exemplar Handles. The majority of sexual injuries caused by Exemplars involve the hands. Using these bars as grips, usually affixed to a strong surface, prevents incidental clawing, scratching and pummelling assuming that they are used correctly. Be sure to use Handles appropriate to your Exemplar level.

In vulgar circles, there’s a certain injury sustained by normal men during intercourse with Exemplar women that they call the ‘c**t crush’. Involuntary spasms of the vagina and legs during coitus can severely injure a man’s genitals, pelvic region and back when using certain sexual positions. Again, always insist on a reinforced brick condom, and avoid the missionary position. If you must, a special girdle can be purchased that will take the sting out.

    The mutant sex bible

Fun Fact : it's thanks to this particular guide that i have learned about the existence of symbiotic entities in the whateley universe, searched about them and finally read "the big idea" (A masterpiece).

Unless there is a villain base or hidden HQ for a criminal organization down there, a common trope in superhero settings but Whateley isn't common, and those involved in it are going to be involved in one or more stories, I would have to say no to that idea. A student from such a location, maybe, it is always possible.

Thank You for story comments appreciated and help me know me they are being read and liked. :-) Note: My story comments can't nor are trying to replace reading the stories, simply my way of enjoying them and letting the authors know I enjoy them.

    Well duh that's why they're fighting.:-p
The Polar Bear Emperor already rules all crime in the Arctic Circle and is now moving to the South, very, very, very far south. His polar bear and walrus minions have increased the drug trade and illegal fish smuggling 500%, all those who had stood in his way were fed to the Emperors pet leopard seal. Now only Penguin Boy, the brave teen with the spirit of the emperor penguin can stop him now.

We haven't really seen any testing in "full." All we've seen is snippets that covered either basic testing, most of the characters we've seen tested. Or a couple more detailed testing things, Phase and Whisper, and those focused on a few aspects of their powers. Phase going "light" and "heavy" repeatedly, or Whisper doing physical stuff.

Whateley and the DARPA/DOD testing facilities may be the only two full testing facilities in the US or possibly the Americas. Having the facilities to fully test the 20 or so different mutant powers would be quite expensive, especially when you get into all the sub categories and Faux and Pseudo and Fake power suites. That is isn't saying that the MCO in Chicago, LA, NYC and other big cities isn't very good, or various Super Hero Groups and Wizards don't have great facilities, they just probably aren't as complete as Whateley's and DARPAs.

Also remember that Powers Testing is only as accurate as the person giving the test.

  • The thing is that most of power testing is boring. We could probably work it all out in detail and go through it, but what would be the point? Do you really want to read a page describing someone running a treadmill?

Instead the basic stuff is glossed over (just enough to show it was done), and any detail concentrates on the interesting (ie non-standard) bits.

A good power testing facility is expensive. Not only that, you need high class experts who are expensive (and who get bored if they don't get a series of interesting cases).

For example, in the UK they have about 10 regional testing centres (they don't need a lot of small ones, its a small island) which are adequate for testing 95% of mutants (remember, you see a skewed sample in the stories, trending to the complex/powerful ones). For anyone too powerful, complicated or downright weird they maintain one faciltiy for the country. This doesn't operate all the time (even in a high population country like the UK, they simple don't get that many in that class manifesting all the time), so they bring in the high-end researchers to run the kit once a month for a few days. DragonsFyre missed out as they couldnt find her a slot before she had to go to Whateley. In any case, researchers being researchers, they'd have done a full test at Whateley anyway.

We already had some of that, like Ayla or someone was tested by a Supergroup and then Whateley gave a totally different rating...

    Yep: Wiki on Sunscreen

Sunscreen does Ayla Goodkind's initial powers testing.

The Powers testing wonks at Whateley are very amused by Sunscreen's inability to do reliable powers testing.

Won't happen. The range is just too large. There are Police precincts in every city over 100-200k population that handle that area's first tier testing and basic legal stuff regarding the acquisition of paranormal powers. They also tend to work in conjunction with a regional supers group and/or college to offer basic powers training and safety orientation. And this is adequate for maybe... 50% of all mutants... and really doesn't include much that you wouldn't find in a fitness center with an attached clinic. MCO or Federally backed paranormal groups fill the next tier and pick up maybe 30-40% of the remaining mutants who are clearly going to require specialized equipment. Those are a 'regional level' ... usually handling tests for several states. And then there are top tier places that are home to the researchers and techs who are really developing the diagnostics and processes that everyone else tries to emulate. Whateley, ARC, a couple DARPA run sites, a couple military bases, one or two private companies.

The sort of things Whateley does in testing really focuses on finding out how the kid has mutated/manifested. In a lot of cases, they already understand the scope of the powers... because the common powers traits are just that... they have been seen enough times that they are recognizable. The guys in local cop shops and colleges? They're dealing with the kid whose skin has scaly patches and can bench 300 lbs. Or the young woman who can generate enough light to replace a flashlight. They just want to make sure these people really are mutants (no sir, your son has been taking steroids... he's not actually a mutant. no, the kid doesn't need anti-psychotics, he really does have a voice talking to him)... and that they don't have a dangerous ability that has developed unnoticed by anyone.

That's so far from what Whateley is testing for... that you can't really even claim similarity. :)

  • Just because you really are hearing voices, doesn't mean that you don't need anti-psychotics. At least that's what the voices tell me.

We've already seen some of this anyway, between Jade's, Phase's, Whisper's and the few others.

The cop interviewing Jade was doing the best he could.
Sunscreen was just incompetent despite having good equipment.
Whisper had a topnotch, except for the magic test, test.
    Ribbon's was competent.

Unless the testing is important to the story, there isn't much needed beyond a Susie went in and got tested and maybe giving out her ratings.

Well, if you're channelling 'Shine, I'll bet on something 'Shiney coming out in the next month? Not thinking that likely though...

What's the latest on the Queue? Any kind of info would be interesting way to fuel my bets... Like, there's XX number stories in there, or > XX, or 1/3 of the stories in there are Elrod's, etc.

Myriad Meetings, I'll bet as one of the next two things for G2.

Diamonds Are a Vamp's Best Friend as part of the next 3 for G1, and Kayda9 as a low chance bet for being the next thing from G1.

A Good Man Part 2, I'll bet as the second thing we see for G0, with something new being the first.

Low chance bet for another WhatIF next week...

Don't think that there'll be another non-Whateley-Verse next week.

    I'm unpredictable.

Your BC update schedule, you are pretty consistent on posting Whateley stories there just before a new one comes here. Don't worry that's the only thing that's predictable, I wont even bother trying to get more specific than one of your Gen 1s, hell the Gen 1 bit is more of a guess on my part, any attempt to divine what characters you torture and how, or how much Phoenix aided in said torture, is pure folly.

I will neither confirm nor deny that Phoenix has given me any suggestions or ideas about torturing writing about Danny. Either he did, and I will use them to torture Danny, or he didn't and I will come up with my own ways to torture Danny, or he did and I rejected them because I'm going to be nice to Danny, or he didn't and I'm going to be nice to Danny.

But - to be fair, I'll try to stuff a buttery, very-flaky, absolutely delicious home-made croissant through my WAN as an apology. (But if the Internet gremlins eat it on the way, i can't be responsible!!)

The albino prince of Melvinbone (and wielder of the dreaded Seersucker, until a certain earth pig busted it) has a last name?

Speaking of which, does Elrod speak like Foghorn Leghorn?

I wonder if she still has to do it, or if she can claim that she has already done it 'cause of the Crash? Or have someone, likely Sam, substitute like they did with Ayla... But yeah, they pretty much did already face a Dark Misty...

I wonder if the sim tech allows a hijacking, like have them all go into the sim, and then Sam just hijacks the sim of whoever's gonna Dark Phoenix, 'cause Wondercute... Seems like they might really rebel against doing Dark Phoenixes? Or am I reading them wrong?

I wonder if Aquerna's gonna involve Ratatoskr like in that Micro-Scene, I think, or the/a Native American squirrel spirit...

Misty may end up going through a Dark Misty scenario with another Team. One that is more serious and hero oriented.

Mikew the squirrel is a minor character of Wabanaki folklore. According to legend, Mikew was once a large carnivore like a wolf or bear but the culture hero, Glooscap, decided he was too ferocious and dangerous to humans and shrunk him to his current size. However, Mikew retained his ill-temper, and often is portrayed as a busybody and troublemaker.

The Wabanaki are in the northeast US/southeast Canada, so that spirit is native to the area.

    I'm unpredictable.

Your BC update schedule, you are pretty consistent on posting Whateley stories there just before a new one comes here.

If the partern still holds true, then one of Elrod's stories should be next. I am hoping for a G1Y2 story.

I am wondering, will Danny have POV stories ? Or will it be more like stronghold's scenes inside Loophole's stories ?

Laura? Who's that? Oh! Cerulea! I just keep blanking out on Laura... Is Cerulea used more to name her, than 'Laura'??

Didn't we already have Shine 1? And Knockoff 1?

Is Knockoff 1 gonna be at Whateley? I forget if she got that far yet... Hmm... I think Shine, Knockoff, and Danny are all 2007-2008 Freshmen... Are they gonna form their own group? The Elrod Crew? Nah...

Yeah, we had Shine 1. I wasn't counting that, but yeah. So it's probably better to call them 2 and 3. I didn't note that Knockoff was 1 - and it's also technically 2.

They may have, and they might not have. It's imp-possible to say who of the cabal has read this imp-pressive round of tales of the imp-pulsive Imp. We don't know if she is teaching imp-pressionable youngsters her talents in Gen 1 or Gen 2 just from the fact that it's an Imp tale; if it's Gen 2, then both the gen 1 and gen 2 cabals would have read it. If it's Gen 1, then it's imp-plausible that Neo would have had an opportunity to read it, since it's imp-plicit that Gen 1 can access ALL Whateley, but Gen 2 can only access Gen 2.

Imp-ortant information was passed on by your imp-osing post there. I was unaware that the Gen 2 authors were imp-ovrished with their lack of access to the Gen 1 imp-rovisations. Now I know that it will be imp-ossible to bribe them for information on Gen 1.

  • It's not an absolute, sometimes we put something up for both groups to review. But not always. We ARE working on means of tying in the Gen2 authors a bit more, with more knowledge of the Gen1 timeline... but that takes both time and organizational skill that is not the strength of most of those of us in the Gen1 group, I'm afraid. That's why we hired DanZilla... well, that, and we got him slaving away for a really low price (how low should be obvious by the word choice earlier in this sentence). But even Dan's great skillz can only make a dent where we give him access to make dents.

So, ya... for now, there's no certainty that bribing Gen 2 authors will get you what you want. But you're welcome to try, I'm sure they'll still welcome the freebies.

  • Ahh but WHEN is the next Imp. I don't mean when its going to be released I mean Gen 1, Gen 2 or Gen 0 (unless she becomes a teacher in Gen 1 timespan, or in the prolog timespan of Gen 2 I believe her career change would be Gen 0, between summer of 2010 and 2015). Personally for the fun interactions I hope she was hired the summer of 07, that way we can see her relatively frequently with both the Gen 1 and Gen 2 crowds, If that's the case, it may overlap with the cannon introduction of Sphere.

Looking at the wiki, Imp drops out of the super scene at around the current Gen 1 timeline, so Imp's hiring for Gen 1 Y2 makes sense.

The last Imp tail ends with her asking Mrs. Carson when she can start. The date is June 30, 2007. Not a lot of time, but then again one of my nieces was hired to teach around Aug 10th this year, classes started on the 17th.

  • mmHmm.. most schools try to handle their hiring in the Spring while they have faculty and staff available to run the interviews/vetting process. if they hire during the summer, they either got late notice from someone saying "I'm out of here" at the end of the Spring, or they made their offers to candidates in the Spring and their top choices said "no thanks" or "sorry, already accepted a position with someone else."

That latter one happens a lot, because the best candidates will have applied in multiple places within the region they want to teach in, so several schools will have seen the same people and only one is going to get that top choice.

When I was teaching English in China, they'd usually have the replacement chosen by the end of March. It was better for them as they could assign students, classrooms, and do all the paperwork without being rushed. I'd assume they do the same everywhere.

Of course they always have some teachers who suddenly decided to skip out on a contract, or simply couldn't come for some reason. That was how I was first hired by a college on September 10th, after the school term actually started. They were desperate for anyone who looked competent and could start the next day.

So having Imp vetted in mid spring, offered a job at the end of spring or beginning of summer would probably be a bit rushed, but still be within the norm, allowing her to start on the first day of the Fall term.

  • And of course Whateley is used to dealing with far stranger things than a teacher starting with only a few weeks of preparation. I can't really imagine Imp spending much longer than that preparing her lesson plans anyways, and they've already done all the hiring research. All that's left is to fill her in on how campus works, and she can learn most of that on the job.

Hmm... I think it'll be someone's backstory instead of new characters... And it will involve the Pyramids...

Sophia Isenhart is one of the gadgeteers and engineers behind Japan's high tech island building project (her gadgeteer focus is on power generation, storage, and flow/transfer systems... she is the creator of the rechargable Spikes storage cell system that is used in the GridGear seen in Shieldwall's stories) and may have been mentioned in that aspect by Gen 2 but during the Gen 1 time frame, she is involved in one of the most important projects of the century for Africa and Europe - the Solar: Egypt project. The story takes place while she's on site in the Sahara having just overseen a critical stage in the project... and is told to take a break, take in some scenery. She could fly home for a little break (she's from a small town in northern Switzerland - I'm thinking probably Steckborn or nearby) but the locals have never really treated her or her family well... so... she does as she's told and plays tourist. The Nile is pretty. There are pyramids (you're right!) ... and things happen. Things that lead to Indiana Jones style adventure. :)

    But... not today, sorry. :P

  • Based upon a theory proposed earlier in this thread it should be an Elrod story, maybe Danny arriving at Poe.

But I think it will be Morpheus, Round and Round perhaps.

  • What's gonna happen today? ... I'm thinking Gen1? No... Gen2 needs more representation? Or maybe it doesn't... Thinking there'll be a new POV character for some reason...

Gen0 ?? ... It feels too soon for GoodMan3. Reminds me of Megaman, that. I know, right?

And then there's the DeWinter Residences...

So a bag of Halloween candy on Gen 2, either Tanya, Morgana or possibly Laura.

(OK, so that bet would be more appropriate if I were betting it on something about the Champion, but AFAIK no one is doing any stories about the current one, or any of his predecessors.)

  • Betting some new character makes their appearance before year's end, or at the day right after new year's, and more bets on a Winter Arrival, like Boxing Day or the week before, for the Winter-ness or Christmas-ness.

Hmm... The New Year's might be good for new characters' 'cause of the Birth of a New Year idea or something...

  • Not a lot of action here, which is surprising.
We know we have more Kayda stories, Bek's Silver Ghost, probably some Imp, maybe other characters, Morpheus is canonizing Absinthe, Myriad Meetings is still open (Gen 2)

So much choice, and still no betting? Is everyone still overstuffed with turkey and full of L-tryptophan?

Hmmm. Morpheus' 1st Gen characters both arrived, in fan fic, after the start of the semester so I don't expect those until after we meet other incoming Freshman at Whateley, like Danny/Danica and Amelie and whatever other students will be introduced, or at least the Kimbas return and ooh and aah over what Phase bought them.

Yay! But make sure you watch your health first. (Get better soon.)

    As for a bet...

A left over pumpkin pie on J.G being in shock over everything he needs to catch up on, and some sort of Gen 1 Year 2 intro story. (Amelie and Charge getting to Whateley, or a Kimba POV getting back, or a new student arriving, but not one of Morpheus'.) Maybe another Hank story. (Hint hint.)

  • We've just had some of Elrod's work, so it's not unlikely to be followed up with some Morpheus. However, it might be time for more Gen 2, which Morpheus has contributed a fair amount to already.

So I'm going to put an apricot danish on some Eisenmadel or Victor.

  • Well, we've seen Mischief at Whateley (or at least on the way there) in two stories already, so we very well might get a POV story for her sometime soon.

When she sat down next to Danny, though, my first thought was that Cassie had indeed found her way to Whateley, but when I heard the name Melissa I sort of... well, it just sounded like it would be bad news for Danny. A bit of a volatile combination. we'll have to see how it plays out, as it is clear she has a lot of competition for the kitty-boy's attention.

A Ferrero Rocher three pack on Cassie showing up in the next three weeks (story time).

I was think much the same thing, with Envy or Roulette being the ones I had the most in mind. OTOH, I don't know how far Morpheus is on canonizing Absinthe (which I never read the original of, come to think of it).

So... a bag of dark chocolate covered pretzels on Roulette showing up, even if she isn't the main character of the story.

Oh, and my bet about Cassie showing up in the first three weeks of the 2007 school year still stands. I'll throw in a jar of Nutella that she shows up on foot, having walked all the way from wherever it was her mother lives - seriously, from the way she talked it seems like she'd just keep walking no matter how far it is, a smile on her face the whole time as she marveled at everything she passed. She's got a real Ryoga Hibiki vibe to her when it comes to traveling, just without the whole 'grim determination' and 'getting lost in his own back yard and ending up on another continent' parts.

I wonder if it's done yet... And who's who. Given that it was mentioned in Boys of Summer, I'm guessing the Bitch is Tansy... But, could be someone else? There's no Dog-girls on campus, so the 'female dog' angle is likely a no.

Is the title a ref to The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe? ... Jadis might get involved??

If Bitch is Tansy, Bear is likely Loophole, 'cause given the quote's origin, lesbianism or something is gonna be a topic, so there needs to be at least one other girl...

  • Wow. That's quite a summary. I'm particularly in awe of the line "Discovering her mistake, the woman – named Bonnie Lee Beaumont – is at first furious but within minutes the two of them fall deeply and enduringly in love with each other and consummate their new-found love for the rest of the night." Whoever typed that up could not possibly have done so with a straight face.
