That could change in the future though.
There was an H1 friendly mutant (at least he worked for the MCO and an evil scientist against other mutants) called Cleaner (Ron Pruitt) in LightofFury's story called Negation.(ElrodW originally posted it which may have led someone to believe it was one of his)

I'm like, "How do I say that she's amazing, without saying that I approve of her actions?" Although, given people's assumptions of her, her achievements weren't that awesome?

Of the mess of names below... let me see... Dr. Amazing and Professor Quartermane are both canon, of course. Frank Hardy Jr. might be the son of one of the Hardy Boys. Dr. Germahn might be the fourth-wall-explaining-guy from El Goonish Shive. Dr. Osterman is probably Dr. Manhattan from Watchmen.
There's a whole Wilde family tree there which I assume is a reference to something or a bunch of somethings, but I have no idea what.
And besides the point, seeing Professor Quartermane's name again made me think... at the time Razzle Dazzle was published, I think Bek admitted that he was a homage to Professor Challenger. The wiki mentions also the name as being an Allan Quartermain nod, but I wonder if it is also intended to be an homage to Professor Bernard Quatermass...
- Schol-R-LEA
-
Whereas Terrence, Richard and Rose shouldn't really be related to them, since they all come from that other comic book company... and yeah, the trenchcoat comment is a clue. The Wilde family as a whole are canon, being part of the Doc Savage pastiche in 'Razzle Dazzle'.

Yeah, this is a definite issue with luck manglers. It does necessarily even have to cause bad luck for others, but as with Teela Brown , it could simply end up that what is lucky for them isn't necessarily good for anyone else.
But I was thinking more about the fact that Lizzy and Clover are already going to be in the same classes (they'll both be 8th graders that year), which is a risky thing given the way probability warping can run wild when there are two or more manglers in close proximity. Having them on the same team as well would be a recipe for disaster.

She can only go up to full power as of yet. She can do many short bursts of a few seconds at a time, followed by normal energy expenditure, to go longer.
So running from the MCO, she would run normally along the street, turn a corner, power up and jump to a third story balcony, power down and climb onto the roof, jog to the edge, power up again jump across the road, jog, power up, jump, jog, etc, and keep doing it for about thirty minutes, wanting only a good meal and a chance to sit down for a bit.
If she powered up and ran for ten minutes , she'd be halfway across the city before it ended, but she'll be going to bed and not waking up for a while, after eating a huge meal.
It's a very tactical power.

Domoviye wrote: Probably is a girl. She may or may not be appearing in a future story.
Miss Powerful is just a fun little character I came up with. I was thinking of making a series of short little events concerning her adventures. And running around with a car over her head to test out her strength seemed par for the course.
Going through old posts to patch my archives, and I came across Probably again...
I was wrong in thinking there weren't any indications of her girlness... "small girl in broad daylight" ...
So, how far along an event chain can she predict, and how far in the future?
For example, two steps would be:
95% chance he'd punch me. 30% chance for me to escape unhurt. If he punched me, 63% chance someone would help me.
A third step might be the chance that the hypothetical rescuer actually manages to be useful.
- Domoviye
-
As for how far she can predict, consider anything beyond the next minute or so as educated guesses with a bit of luck on her side.
If she somehow foiled a plot by an evil supervillain known for murderizing people successfully, and he knew lots about her, her power would say 90% chance he'd kill her very soon. Good educated guess.

Marni is more out of self defense since she was outed almost immediately.
Miss Powerful is having too much fun playing hero to be really careful.
Rose has to use her powers or it drives her nuts, and unfortunately the school shop class is her only place to really do her projects.
And Samantha, well, just wait.

Note that I said "more sense". That doesn't mean that it makes a lot of sense. Just more than a necklace sign. ... I think.
It doesn't seem important enough for Carson or anyone else to make a school announcement over it?
... Hmm... Perhaps someone makes a magical/devised typo-generating aura that allows "I was too close to XXXX" as a valid excuse... Hmm...
No, (Y)uganda isn't immune to her aura, that's why she has scribes, and uses speech-to-text... Although, given Whateley tech levels, speech-to-text is really good, so she doesn't need scribes... ... Unless she was in one of the early Whateley classes, and so could have her audio recorded, but not accurately transcribed?
...Or the scribe duty is a punishment, so it's done even when unneeded, and with something that's not especially time-critical... Not much sense, is there?
No, I came up with the Yuganda-Uganda name wordplay a while ago, like a week or two, and I knew about the SCP Foundation before today. Search the Bad Ideas thread for Cyborg Child if you don't believe me. The idea just put itself together with the typos as a catalyst or something. I think. ... Hey. Do you know your subconscious?
I've got no idea what her power ratings are. ESP maybe. ... Her appearance would be a spoiler. Look at other Cognito/Info-hazard SCPs for hints. Yes, there's a lot. (Y)uganda's 'powers' do have a theme. Anymore hints would make it too easy.
If I settle on giving her planned powers to other characters and leaving (Y)uganda with a typo-aura, I'll reveal her appearance and stuff.
Hmm... Do I have enough for a thread of its own? I don't think so...

And before anyone asks, no, She didn't escape before the 'Lympies did; the Foreigner never caught Her in the first place, as she's actually an Anthropomorphic Archetype rather than a Goddess (Olympian or chthonic) per se. She managed to hide out in the north of Europe and disguised Herself as... well, you can probably guess that one.
Yep, She's tricksy that way; She managed to catch June when she was particularly pissed with Jason, then connived to make Majestic think that the best way to get even was to make Imperious jealous, and gee, June, here's this younger boy there right in front of you and he's just the sort of skinny geek Jason despises... Though you missed the part about '= Dr. Timothy Leary'.
The song in question was, of course, "The Legend of a Mind", AKA "Timothy Leary's Dead". The timing is a problem - in the real world, Leary died in 1996, which would make von Maas ten at the oldest - but who knows how things went in that world... also, I was assuming that Eris/Loki was jumping from human host to human host before mutants appeared (same as I had for the character of Euterpe), so it may not have been a permanent bond.I was humming along with my iPod, which had cued up an old Moody Blues song about a former self of mine. Alas, poor Timmy, he was a great host: so placid, so intelligent, so inspiring, such a tremendous pain in the arse for the Powers That Be.

I wrote several of these to get an idea of a few new characters and other reasons. Then I thought some of them were really funny, so I posted them. No real big plan at first. Then I got a good idea and ran with it. I can write these out really easy in a few minutes between work, and writing bigger stories as a bit of a breather.
And I'll put out one to three a week, since I'm not ready yet to show the big thing. Don't worry it's going to be really satisfying at the end.

Or is it just coincidence that 2/3 Rose's Gadgeteering Scenes have her with vehicles?
- Domoviye

So she is not as strong as most gadgeteers, she needs to see it to make it, but she is versatile. And she can surprise people with a few little surprises.

How complete do the blueprints need to be? ... Could she take the scattershot notes of a manic Gadgeteer and copy their Gadget?
Or be a quick Devise Test? 'Cause it seems she can detect Devised components, as seen when Mind Over Matter gave her that Devise-Gadget Laser Pen?
- Domoviye

As for blueprints, if it was missing key points, it wouldn't work. A bit of wiring missing, a page showing how gears fit together, she could figure it out. As she gets more practical experience the less of the blueprints she needs. But she'll always need them.

That's nearly impossible, assuming that the engine is still aluminum and was a gasoline engine, temperature tolerances, oils chemically reacting with each other, not to mention the additional filters to clean the fuel, if it's used kitchen oil, if it was a diesel engine the wider fuel options would be feasible, due to cylinder size and higher temperature tolerance, Rose may need blueprints but she's otherwise a high level gadgeteer. I have to assume that the blueprints are just for visualization purposes now, and eventually she may start making her own.Domoviye wrote: I have no idea. I'd assume anyburnable oil would work.

I was working under the assumption that Rose, unlike a usual Gadgeteer, would have to understand how her gadgets work, in order for her to make improvements on it, instead of working from Gadgeteer intuition or whatever and making something that accomplishes some purpose, but is a black box until reverse engineered or analyzed.

Ok here's a piece of advice from an avid reader with really good senses. It's not about the big things it is about the little ones. Someone who genuinely lives with more powerful sense won't notice that they are different, you have to show that they are different with how they notice or react to things. They don't even have to react before others as long as they react appropriately.
For instance, at the sound of screeching tires most people look up in surprise or search for the car, I on the other hand cringe in pain.
Even smaller things that most people wouldn't even know to associate with heightened senses can make the character feel more correct. I never leave the house without a hat on. Why? Because I find sunlight painful.

I kind of have ideas for scenes where Bo/Opie meets Raul, Helen Foreman (later Cantrel), and Clarissa Cole (the future Nefertari) on the bus from Berlin, but it hasn't quite gelled yet.
Oh, and one more note: Raul's great-grandfather was from one of the Portuguese-speaking towns in Newfoundland; as I understand it, there were several such villages in the Maritimes and the New England area of the US (including one that was still thriving on Cape Cod when I was last there in the early 1990s, though now mostly speaking English and incorporated into Provincetown, where it is just another to a touristy neighborhood) which were founded at the end of the 19th century by fishermen working the cod fisheries. In the 1930s, he and his young wife moved to Montreal to find work (after having struck out in Halifax, and figuring French would be easier for his wife to learn than English), which is where the elder Raul was born. Despite his wife's insistence, he never did change his name to the more Francophonic 'Raoul', and his daughter decided to honor that with her own son's name.

But I got the sense of Mrs. Cantrel as an older women, nearing what's generally thought of as "retirement age" -- that is, over fifty at least. Not only for her general behavior and the way she addresses the kids, but also because she's dating Gunny Bardue... and the fact that she refers to Fubar (who is, I think, over thirty) as a "boy". So perhaps she's an *adult* they meet at Whateley; one of the teachers, maybe.

We walked in, and we met the house mother. Actually, she was more ‘house’ than ‘mother’. She was a huge, ancient, immobile structure. She looked old enough to have once been Mrs. Ryan’s nanny. She was in an oversized wheelchair, and she filled it completely. And it wasn’t really a wheelchair, since it had no wheels. At the four corners of the base, the chair had glowing golden softballs, and there were more control knobs on her armrests than on an entire set of stereo system components.
Toni's:
We were received by Ms. Cantrel, the housemother at Hawthorne. She’s a large, black woman in a wheelchair, who looks to be about two days younger’n dirt. But this chair had been jazzed up like you would not believe! It had no wheels, but glowing golden orbs at each corner, each orb the size of a grapefruit. It didn’t just hover, it zipped around like a dragonfly. A size 150 dragonfly, XXXXL.
Jade's:
The were received by Ms. Cantrel, the house mother at Hawthorne. She was a large, elderly black woman in a wheelchair. But, like some of the other wheelchairs on campus, this one had been significantly modified. In fact, this one seemed more modified than any of the others Jade had seen. It had no wheels, but glowing golden orbs at each corner, each orb the size of a grapefruit. The wheelchair didn’t merely hover, it positively swooshed about. It moved faster than they expected, giving the house mother surprising speed for someone of her bulk.
So I would guess that she is probably at least 60.

As for the Ace of Spies versus Simon DeVille, I sort of wanted to do something with Sidney Reilly since the first time I saw the mention of him in "Razzle Dazzle". I even bothered to look up a few historical factoids about him on Wicked-Pedo , not that there's much anyone really knows for sure. Apparently, while almost everyone agrees that he was born in Ukraine sometime between 1870 and 1880, that he was probably of Jewish descent, and that he was an active agent of the British Crown at various points, that's about all anyone can say for certain; even his original name is unknown. Kind of appropriate for one of the people who inspired James Bond.

Domo when you complete these, or at some point, will you put them in dedicated stories? Even if its collection of excerpt style, it will make things easier to recap.
Yeah, Marni doesn't have a good time of things.
She still has pretty good luck overall. There are worse things that can happen to her.
As for combining them all. Maybe.
Parts of these will come up in other stories, and some will be little easter eggs.

Hmm... Where is she going? I'd think to one of the other girls... But, probably not, as they're pretty far from each other? ... Need to revisit that Geography...
Now I've come up with the idea that Rose's powers won't matter, 'cause she'll get the Cat's Eye.
But, you said 'exact' powers, and that could happen if Rose becomes basically a general Gadgeteer with enough knowledge, so the limitations of her precise Gadgeteer expression don't matter.
Marni is in California, Miss Powerful is in Miami, Rose is in Missouri, Samantha is undisclosed.
Just so everyone knows, Rose has about five scenes left, Marni 8+, Samantha 8 or so. Miss Powerful is basically done except when I need some amusement. And then hopefully the big event will be ready.

The achronic nature of the snippets makes guessing... Nevermind, they're released in chronological for their character, IIRC.
Still can't make any guesses where I like my chances where Rose's plot is going. Or any other plot for that matter.

"Aw crap," the stout man muttered before wiping his hands on the front of his overalls and quickly waddling for the door. "Hey! Luigee," he called as he pushed through, "better start filling the buckets, Domoviye's up to his tricks again and this time he's promising brains as well!"

LOL!!!
Thank you, Phoenix! I needed a good laugh, and that response worked perfectly!

Miss Powerful is out of order. Hers really doesn't matter much.Malady wrote: Well, there's the California Crusaders... IIRC...

Rose is mostly in order.
Everyone else is in order.
I'll give you a small hint of what's coming. Here are two anonymous quotes from a person who read all of them. Even the ones that won't be posted for a year or two. Yes I have microscenes planned for over two years away.
"CURSE YOU, DOMOVIYE!!!"
"you are a cruel, cruel excuse for a human being"

I'll take that challenge. My guess, the images Sam saw are from a past life, a were warrior who was protecting her tribe and probably perished in battle. She is reborn throughout the ages and the Catseye gem is the last piece of the key to unlocking memories and powers from the past life. Or the Catseye gem holds the spirit of a were warrior and can only bond with a descendant of said warrior.Domoviye wrote: Things will become somewhat clear in the future.

That is such a cool idea, I may just steal it.

What!? Domo how can you hate Gungans?
Edit:

My dreams take me to far off lands and times of distant past and future. They tell what has been done, what will happen and who I am. They show me things beyond the machinations of any man. Tell me, what are dreams to you?

Google facts about runaways, or teens living on the street. I've done some research on it for stories, not pretty stuff. It's worse when you realize that stray dogs get more money spent on them than street kids.Malady wrote: Oh. I didn't know that... Where'd you get that data? Or give me terms to search?

I actually did think Gangnam Style was about Gundams the first time I heard it, for the first thirty seconds or so. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like anybody has made an actual parody song of that nature, only parody videos . One of these days I'll need to learn how to sing so I can correct oversights like this.

combustion bender with a piece of armor wrapped around the head by metal bending, all but book 2 of Korra is good, book 2 you have to watch as a movie to minimize the pacing issues, other than that though, Korra is beautifully darker as a show then Last Airbender, far fewer avatar state victories and cheesy antics, and far more psychological trauma amongst other things, think about how much Elrod would try to get away with in a Nick job, tone it down just enough for family ratings and there you go.Domoviye wrote: I"ve never really watched Legend of Korra.
